Have you heard of the emergence of Smartrings in the tech-enthusiast communitites worldwide?
It's almost as if any tech-youtuber I see, wears a ring; in many cases a Smartring.
Not that there is a trend evolving, that passes the domain community on quite soles or socks ... ; )
To work against that, I looked a bit into the capabilities of Smartrings, and you may guess it...
there seems to be much more in the works than just measuring blood pressure and other cardio-vascular impacts.
So it seems, that future Smartrings, containing a NFC (near field communication) chip, may be able to store data, and send it when asked for it.
Usecase 1) Your health data in case of emergency.
The doctor can scan your ring, and knows immediately what illness/es you have and what medicaments you take.
Which can be criticial for some, and very important information.
Usecase 2) Instant payment.
For now, you need to turn your arm in an unusual 180° angle to be able to use your smartwatch, to pay with it.
With a smartring, you have a very convenient way to get it scanned & pay.
Usecase 3) Other kinds of storage; files, etc.
Usecase 4) Your house, car & office key replacement.
Those usecases are very strong.
Regarding smartwatches, there is a certain part of the population wearing & using them (for payments for ex. as well),
but first, only a part of the population likes to wear watches at all (I for ex. don't like it),
and second, - that is speculative - I could bet that much more people would be willing to wear smartrings, if they would give them these 'powers', and would be social accepted / and maybe even required in some jobs, rented apartments, etc.,
than wearing smartwatches...
which are also very cost intense, as they offer you much more (display-wise), than a Smartring.
Which price could be only a fraction of a Smartwatch.
There are only 3 recorded sales on namebio, from which one re-sale,
still I think that this technology is coming very quietly but strongly forward.
Additionally to that, there would be companies building on top of this eco-system.
For ex. apps, if you could install different wallets on your Smartring to store crypto, or dollars...
And so on.
What do you say?
