Singular vs. Plural Names

I'm interested in know, as a general rule, which is better a word with or without an "s" at the end. I say general rule because there are many circumstances where it's obvious that one is better than the other. As an example, realestate.com is vastly superior to realestates.com.

But, what about something like PremiereHome.com versus PremierreHomes.com as an example. which would be better? Are there any hard facts on something like this?

Obviously, if it was an important term and both were available, one would buy both. Or if it were for my own business, I'd buy both. But what if it were for investment, and it was not an extraordinary buy? Or, what if one was taken, would it be worth it to buy the other one?

If this has been discussed at length before, a link to the thread would be appreciated.

Thanks!

i think it depends on what the word is that decides whether it is plural or singular, as in some cases the plural may be more likely to be visited than the singular and in other cases the singular may be more likely to be visited or searched for than the plural

In your examples the first is a no brainer and the second example PremierreHomes.com would be best but PremierreHome.com might also work after a fashion.

Since WT shows count for both the sungular & plural it can be a good tool to use. When going this one muse consider usage. You will find that for swing(s) the singular gets around 6 times the daily searches of the plural but since I am developing a Web site to sell swings I will register the plural because most of the traffic from swing will not be looking to buy a swing for the front porch of their restored bungalow. The 'swing' traffic would IMO be junk as I am not a swnger 'hook up' site.

I feel there is no rule. Each must be based on usage. But then withdik.com :bingo: ?

It really depends on what your talking about. If you are only specializing in one kind of thing then singular would be the way to go.

I most cases I would go for Singular names, but there is some name that would be better if add s!

I think most .info names are better with the s :tu:

It depends on the word. But I would prefer singular names.

i think that depending on the word, you will have to make it singular or plural. there is no "one rule" to follow. if your website offers multiple items, make it plural where as if its only 1, then make it singular.
