Simple Chat system

I was wondering if there was any way to make a simple chat system on my website.

I have want it to only use php, html, and javascript, mysql(only if necessary). Is there an easy way to do this where I don't have to keep refreshing a page every so often?

did u try the one in ur cpanel? called phpMyChat. and i think that you will have to refresh your page. other wise how will new content be added. i dont think that an AJAX chat script is available yet oops i am wrong. try searching for ajax chat scripts in google

What i am really looking for is a really simple script that I can edit a ton to add my own features to and completely change.

It is the basic chatting that I want to figure out how to do.

I like FlashChat from www.TuFat.com - it's only $5....

I second compuXP's recommendation of TuFat's flash chat, it's really unexpensive and comes with source for both PHP and Flash (.fla) files, so you can easily modify behavior/looks. It works great with small websites.
