discuss .si the next .ai?

.si Will Be the Next .ai—and Those Who Don't See It Are Repeating the Same Mistake.

I’ve been saying it for a while now: .si is the natural TLD for Superintelligence—just as .ai today stands, unchallenged, for Artificial Intelligence.

I brought this up years ago (on X).
The reactions?
Rejection, head-shaking, comments like "too exotic," or "nobody needs that." Sounds familiar.
Exactly the same things were said about .ai—before it exploded.

Let's look at the facts:

· Major tech players are already making moves: Google has secured google.si; Microsoft has claimed copilot.si. These aren't just frivolous moves.
These are strategic reservations for the next era of AI.

· Superintelligence is the logical "next level": Anyone involved in AI development knows this: Narrow AI is just the beginning.
ASI (Artificial Superintelligence) is coming—and sooner than many people think.

· .si is short, concise, and available: While .ai has long since reached its saturation point (commanding premium prices and attracting speculators), .si is still in its infancy.
Those who don't act now will end up paying ten times as much later.

I still remember how everyone laughed at .ai. "Just two letters?
Some random island domain?
It’ll never catch on." Today, .ai is one of the most valuable ccTLDs in existence.

The parallel is unmistakable:

.ai = Artificial Intelligence
.si = Superintelligence

This isn't just a claim. It’s logic.

So yes, I stand by my position: Anyone who ignores .si as the domain for Superintelligence today is going to miss the next wave.

Feel free to dismiss this again now.

But in two or three years, I’ll be back to remind you of this post.

AI is a term everyone knew before the AI wave. It already covers the entire field basically.

End users will decide if .si has a strong future. That is what drove .ai gains.

Good luck with your .si investments.

The term AI might start to sound old and outdated when everyone starts talking about superintelligence though.

Why use .ai when .si feels much more fresh, modern and powerful?

Sorry to burst your bubble (I hope I'm wrong)

Ai - My 83 year old Mother knows what this is and could probably explain it to someone else.

Si - The only word my Mother knows in Spanish.

This has not been a scientific test and results may vary.

My Mother told me to post this!

Hi Red, is your mother buying domains to build projects around AI?

She is. She has a few corkers waiting for that one opportunity. The point I was trying to make is that more people have heard of Ai rather than Si.

I will follow this discussion to further broaden my Mother's horizon. She keeps regging dothorse too - she won't be told LOL!!!

I see .si as a branding and positioning tool for a subset of AI companies/startups. What everyone, common people or grandmothers think is irrelevant.

This is also the same point I was trying to make. We've heard SO much about AI in the past 5 years that it's becoming rather boring and repetitive. Even my 96 yo grandma knows what it is and uses it daily.

Superintelligence feels like a new thing, even though it's just the continuation of the same thing.

It's like the perfect marketing to keep things fresh within the same ecosystem.

A Swedish startup Swedish Superintelligence Inc. has registered Swedish.si and redirecting traffic to the SwedishSuperIntelligence .com

I don’t think it will replace .AI anytime soon. .AI already has strong market recognition for AI related web and services, startup adoption and investor familiarity. But .SI could still grow as a complementary identity layer similar to how some companies use alternative tech-focused extensions for branding.

The same thing was said about .com in the 90s when people were just getting used to it and the Internet. It was everywhere, .com this and .com that. I was sick to death of it at the time, and so were a lot of people I knew. But that's why it's still the premier extension today. Everyone knows it and expects it.

I asked this question (will .si become the new .ai) of chatgpt a while ago and posted its answer in another thread. It basically said that superintelligence would just be rolled into .ai, because superintelligence IS ai, and .ai has already entrenched itself the way .com did.

That being said, I still intend to register some .si, because why not?
