Why “SI” is linguistically superior to “AI” – a short reflection.

Most people assume “AI” (Artificial Intelligence) is the natural global abbreviation. But from a pure linguistics perspective, “SI” for Superintelligence actually works better across languages.

🔹 “AI” contains English diphthongs [eɪ aɪ], which are pronounced differently in German, French, Mandarin, etc.
🔹 “SI” is simply [si] – almost identical in most major languages.
🔹 The prefix “super-” (Latin) is a true internationalism; “artificial” is not.

We don’t need to replace “AI” overnight. But when discussing superintelligence, using “SI” might make global communication clearer and less Anglo-centric.

Thoughts?

A comparative spam graph for .ai and .si would support the discussion.

The .si domain extension has not been approved by the relevant authorities.

All the prices you see are merely short-term speculation. Don’t waste your money on a passing f

I think it's possible that .si gain traction, but I think it's unlikely that it'll reach the levels of demand for .ai

I'd be happy with 10% of the demand of .ai at .si's peak TBH.

Let's see how that goes.

Surprisingly, I have not received that much .AI spam.

Brad
.si is at least 3 times cheaper, so at least 3 times easier to wholesale them.

Well, that's kind of simplistic.

You also need demand.

There are extensions that are much cheaper, but actual demand holds them back.

.AI has way more than 3x the demand of .SI.

There's definitely an uptick of .si demand (hype/fomo) right now, so people are trying to profit from it.

It's a lot easier to be tempted by a $13 .si reg (with the intention of a quick flip during a period of hype) than paying $150 for a .ai name that you need to wholesale for a lot more just to break even.

Aside from that, I find spamming via DM very cringeworthy and I don't do it myself, but there's very little we can do about it.

Are you talking about the term "AI = Artificial Intelligence" and "SI = Super Intelligence".

If yes, then it's like linguistically the term "Father" is superior or "Mother" is superior. I am sorry, I can't comment.

Also, I just realized, what the term XYZ even mean?

But if you are taking about which domain extension is better, then it's obvious that today .AI is far ahead in sales.

The day .SI surpasses .AI in sales, I would say that as of now .SI has become superior.

God Bless us all 🙏.

I think this is just speculation that .si may surpass .ai, leading some investors and large tech companies to acquire .si domains early, before it become as mainstream as .ai.
