Thanks to @Lox we now know, that Microsoft owns the domain copilot .si

SI, clearly, stands for Super Intelligence in this case.

Regarding the sale of Quince.si, I asked ChatGPT to give me a list of companies with that name, and got the following chart. Not sure who acquired it, but I notice the extension could be relevant to the last company listed, which has "Ongoing" in the Founded field.

"Quince" in English, "membrillo" in Spanish, is an exquisite fruit. The color palette of the "Quince" brand using Quince.com and several other extensions, reminds of the quince jam, one of the finest flavors one can taste, in my opinion.

So, "Quince" is a superb, memorable election for an e-commerce brand, as it would also be a smart choice for an SI entity. In this particular case, the company is establishing branches around the world, so maybe they registered the "SI" version because they will set up one in Slovenita.

This is a powerfully versatile name, perfect for being developed in many directions.

I am thinking about city nTLDs like .london, .berlin, .nyc and .tokyo with SLD Quince.
What do you think about it? They purchased several European ccTLDs, why not add global fashion/lifestyle hotspots? Or is such a behavior (dis-)qualified as domain squatting?
I see Porkbun offers the most attractive reg fees for several extensions, just in case.

One think I'm yet to look into is how you make .si domains resolve a landing pages. What's the deal with the servers etc?

I am just learning (and determined to behave ethically), so I can only give you my personal opinion, based on what I have read about IP matters so far. Strictly speaking, if it is just them whom you have in mind when you decide to register the domains, then yes, you're at risk of becoming a squatter. That said, since it is a dictionary word that is already being used by many other businesses, and a very versatile name which could be developed in many new directions, I guess the key would be what you do after registration, in order not to harm their interests (not parking for revenue would be mandatory), and how you respond if and when they reach out to you.

The Registry has certain technical requirements in place for the name to be delegated to the NS. There is a verification process that can be performed on Register.si, or, in some cases, your Registrar will provide the link for that. Until now, I have found there were no problems delegating to Sedo and Atom.

Some TLDs, especially some country‐code TLDs, enforce stringent pre-delegation DNS checks. During this process, the registry verifies that a domain's nameservers are correctly configured; if they aren't, any NS record change will be rejected.

@D Haynes Which marketplace are you trying to point to?

I have Atom nameservers automatically set to every name I register or transfer in but they fail the checks apparently.

As someone who has a very rudimentary understanding of how DNS works their failure report doesn't really tell me anything lol.

It happened to me, and I figured out, from the Registry's email, that it was because I hadn't submitted the names to Atom BEFORE changing nameservers.

So, I tried the following, and it worked:

1- Reset the NS to the Registrars':

2- Submit the names to Atom (as Standard to ensure Atom's processing was fast);

3- Change the NS to Atom and wait. You might get a new first email from Slovenia with rejection, but shortly after that, their system will confirm successful delegation.

To sum up, you need to have Atom's destination lander pre-set before changing nameservers, so that the Registry's system can verify that your name will effectively resolve in order to confirm delegation.
