It is a blockchain domain so it will never be deleted and has never to be renewed.
Irony: True as long as Quantum tech is not able to attack blockchain systems.

I paid 300 USD for it at Unstoppable, life-long ownership.

In the moment it is just a crypto play in a financial community:
Unlock the power of the Quantum Ecosystem with your own .quantum domain. Use it to log in to qe.finance and gain exclusive access to our collective brainpower—a global network of top-tier researchers, analysts, and innovators in the crypto and financial space.

To me this is a bet for future DNS usability, too:
Onchain domains are what’s called alternate roots. They are not part of the current DNS. We will be collaborating with Quantum Expeditions to plan and strategize for applying to the upcoming Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) general Top Level Domains (gTLD) application round in 2026. The goal is to create Web2-Web3 domain "twins," allowing users, brands, and companies to take the best from both worlds and fully leverage the power of onchain domains within the traditional Internet space.

Edit: This is no affiliate or other promotional stuff.

If I understand this tech correctly, a user has to install something on their browser or phone in order to see or be able to type in a .quantum domain. Is this correct?

Good question, could be the opener of a new thread "Develop your blockchain domain".

You can "see" a blockchain domain in related marketplaces and on your wallet.
You can develop a website which is visible in regular web2 browsers, using web3 tools different from what we know in the DNS space. I never tried this with a blockchain domain.

Regarding the .quantum extension it is promoted to get your user name for the qe.finance community.

Hey, asking me for tech possibilities is like reading in WikiNeandertalensis. I just showcased a quantum name. :xf.wink:

My Pitch:
Quantum Computing isn't "computing". It's qubiting another dimension.

Can you show me more than 10 examples in the last decade where "ing" endings have hit in any term or trend?

True, those are good examples but doesn't roll over into adding "ing" into obscure naming for a nice domain.

There's actually an "ing" extension which I think is one of the worst TLDs ever. It is so like, shudder.

Check this guys, it's even not the beginning, they use (.io) thank God I got the best com versions.
Then one would ask why they not own COM domain with such budget?

Can you show me 1 hit term or trend where the 'ing'.com is Not registered?

A troll trolling .ing --as a worse thing, is a most humorous thing as the trolli is the 'ing' in trolling. (Dr. Seuss is on the tube)🙂

Besides, 'ing' is a already a foundational word extension. Its value is long established, and only increases extending into the dot-ing era empowering new words like qubit.

I know most domainers dislike word-number combinations.
I take them for stronger keys if reasonable 2-word domains are only available as .xyz, .me etc.
So I handregistered

Quantum111 .com
Quant12 .com
Qbit5 .com
Qbt1 .com
