Welcome to NP

Cloud names still sell very well, cloud computing is huge business and there are cloud startups launching every week. The trick is to find good keywords on the aftermarket and dont try and hand register any cloud names, all the names were registered years go, however there are still bargains to be found out there, email existing owners and try and buy them.

Make sure you research cloud computing learn a bit about it before investing in names

Good luck

How have your outbound efforts been like (if any) with cloud names?
I have a number of names under a similar vein, in the datacenter/server category.
Don't 100% agree with not hand regging names, but you need intimate knowledge of where the industry is going and what new categories are being created all the time.

With cloud names, roughly 50% of my sales have been outbound and 50% inbound offers, however my largest sales (in the mid xx,xxx range) have been from me emailing large companies with my names. I have a lot of repeat buyers too, so its always good to build relationships with these contacts. Once german company signed up with my newsletter and they have come back 4 times to buy cloud (.DE) names from me.

Thats true, but I monitor the future technology very carefully and go and try finding cloud names with the up and coming keywords, you will find they are all taken in .com and the strong cctld's. This is the main problem with domainers, they register CloudKeyword or KeywordCloud names, but not words that are directly related to cloud computing

That is great! When you email these large companies, who are you emailing? CEOs? VP Marketing? CIO? and how large are the companies - Google / Apple size? I want to try outbound. I have a few very nice Cloud names.

The #1 most important thing is to contact the right person at the company, the decision maker....

Its not always Apple, Google or Amazon size company, but still million dollar companies with large budgets

Check the company exec team on their website, Google, Bloomberg, Yahoo finance etc and find someone who can make the call on whether to buy the name (ie the business development manager, CEO etc). If you Google "Cisco Executive team" for instance, it comes up with this - https://newsroom.cisco.com/exec-bios, so its not hard to find the right person. If you Google "Cisco Email format", it comes up with this - https://rocketreach.co/cisco-email-format_1063
So its not hard figure out the person's email either.

This is just what works for me

1) Email end-users with a short to-the-point email offering your name

2) Ensure you have a decision-maker in the company, DONT just use the WHOIS email, most of the time it will get ignored/deleted - Use LinkedIn, Bloomberg, yahoo Finance, Company site, Google etc to find out who the CEO, Business Development Manager is and contact them directly

3) Be patient, they dont always reply straight away (if at all) - Don't flood them with emails if they dont reply

4) Be polite and professional at all times, thank them for their time if they aren't interested, you never know if they might need/want the name later on.

5) Use Escrow for sales, it provides them with a level of security when dealing with someone they dont know, especially if you have contacted them first.

6) Send an email after the Escrow transaction asking them if they have the name in their account, thank them for their time, wish them all the best in the future etc...I think politeness and professionalism goes a long way in this industry, especially with the all the scammers online these days

Hope that helps, good luck
