Been thinking about buying that laptop, but before I do, I would like to hear what you think about it.

I've heard good and bad things about sony laptops, one person said he had nothing but problems and then the other said his was great and he had no problems.

first sony laptops suck second that a horrable price there is a acer laptop at the source (witch is the eqvilent of radio shack) that has the same specs a bigger screen and is a media center for $1000 shure it doesent have a wb cam at the top but a wbcam hardly costs $689.
just my 2 cents

I would ONLY go with Fujitsu Lifebook(best on the market, that includes apple) or possibly Toshiba.

I agree Sony suck my went tits up after 6 weeks took me 3 months to get a refundd as they couldn't fix it, as for acer..lets just say I used to work for their tech support..looooooooooooooooooooool....

I now have a HP pavilion dv8263 17" widescreen, duo core, 1gb ram 100gb hdd....lovely bit of kit had it 11 months not 1 single problem.

Since it's a Sony, I'd be sure it doesn't contain of their batteries that's been recalled in Dell and Apple laptops. They are prone to overheating and some have actually caused fires! I don't have the model numbers with me ... but I'm sure you'll find more detailed info with a Google search. :)

I've heard good on Toshiba and Dell laptops (minus battery).

My buddies Sony laptop could never be set down flat without it overheating. I'm guessing the fan was screwed.
