Should I get a VPS?

I have several hosting, which gets pretty confusing. I have 1 host for wild carded domains, I have 1 host for a small proxy site, and ANOTHER host for my regular web pages! Yea, it gets confusing with the bills and all.

I have a question. With a Virtual Private Server, can I: Set up Wild Carded Domains, Install FFMPEG, and FFMPEG-PHP, while running my other sites normally? (All in one hosting)

I would certainly suggest you to go for a VPS. The best would be to use a managed one sp that you dont have to worry about the technical side.

I would say yes to the VPS and no way to a dedi, you wont need that kind of power. If you dont know SSH or unix, i would suggest using a managed provider that has been in the biz for a good few years, such as liquidweb.com or DEHE.com - both are well known quality providers, both fully managed.

Dont go with one of these startup VPS companies as they still dont know what their servers can and cant cope with.

LPX, be sure to check on guaranteed RAM, price for additional IP's, etc. There can be quite a variance from one VPS provider to the next.

I'd suggest getting a VPS if you dont want to spend hundreds of $$'s on a dedicated server. You can do the same things on a VPS (install things on it) but they're so much cheap.

I have one and have had one for absolutely months now. I love it!

Like those before me, if you can afford it go for a dedicated server.

If not, the nsettle for a VDS.

(PS: Never settle for a Lycos VDS...)
