So, from what I've figured there are basically three main ways of making profit off domains.
Selling them is quite self explanatory and applicable to nearly any domain in the industry, the problem is with the other two.
Parking a brandable domain is, theoretically, not very profitable in the sense that a brandable domain is usually a string of characters with no special meaning until branded (which is usually until after sold XD) so the chance of it having any organic traffic is extremely slim (there may be some exceptions, I am not a know-it-all).
Developing the domain into a website poses another problem due to the fact that it greatly reduces the niche in which the domain may be branded which may in turn greatly reduce its price. The math is simple - if you develop randomdomain.com into a picture hosting website there is a majestic chance that no one apart from picture-hosting-enthusiast is going to look to buy it thus, basically, losing on its brandability.
Do you have any ideas or thoughts regarding this?
Do you (attempt to) earn any profits on unsold (hoarded) short/brandable domains or do you just let them sit in hope that they will be bought off eventually?
