As Walmart now own jet dot com and shoes dot com will they go down the route of buying each and every product in dot com?

For domain investors that own a product in. Com i wouldn't be surprised if Walmart start purchasing all the product dot Coms purely as a mindset thing

Eg think of a product and type the product dot com which could affect Amazon although only slightly as I reckon Amazon have no competition

Amazon has quite a few category killer domains (.coms and new g's too) forwarding to their various category page as well.

They should have never ditched Ivanka Trump! :) It took about one month for them to go bankrupt after deciding not to carry Ivanka's line. Bad press helped kill their brand. To be honest I am very surprised a company like Zappos didn't buy Shoes.com to help protect their brand. I guess Walmart owning it is like brand protection since they won't do anything useful with it. It will end up being like Diapers.com and Soap.com after Amazon owned it for a while. Just another defunct EMD.

I'm wondering "how much"...:cyclops:
.
Just remembering that runningshoes.com was bought for $700.000 in 2011-04-28

As I waited for 100 retweets, it inspired Elliot Silver to do some digging of his own (and he found the price, via a different source!). So, the price turned out to be USD $9 million, and included some other minor domain names, TMs, and social media accounts. See:

http://loffs.org/walmart-shoes-dot-com/

Elliot blogged about it at:

http://www.domaininvesting.com/looks...-shoes-com-ip/

Before I even got to the BC Court Services online, I went to PACER, and then to the US bankruptcy receiver's website at;

http://inverness.us/receivership-sho...nlineshoes-com

That eventually inspired me to look to the Canadian bankruptcy records ($12, but worth it), to find the details.

By the way, there was a note about a licensing deal for the Shoes.com domain name between the US company and the Canadian owner. The receiver records and the PACER documents confirm that that licensing deal was terminated, when the US bankruptcy assets were sold.

So, Wal-mart gains the domain "cleanly" now, without any other side agreements, etc.

Sneakers cannot be as big as shoes because shoes encopasses sneakers while sneakers are a single group of shoes.

I would agree. However, there is a potential for Sneakers to be be branded as a "private investigator" firm, or some sort of stealth activity like extra-marital affairs, etc... LOL

Again very true but......

Not everyone needs a private investigator and everyone needs shoes so therefore shoes will always be a bigger end user domain than sneakers.

Can you tell I am a bit jealous not owning shoes.com? :xf.frown:

But according to many SEO experts and internet marketers, EMDs are dead.
