Shall I make the move?

Been using windows since 3.1, now windows died on me on my main work station, and re-install disk isn't working (stops forever at analysing X mb drive) or something.

I have Ubuntu and Linspire that i could use, i can transfer using a memory stick though. So has to be less that 512MB, i am able to boot from a USB.

So, should i, ring Dell again and find out whats up, Or move to Linux?
Im worried about compatability mainly.

Damn Small Linux 2.2 was just released.. check it out.. 50mb, will run off a pen drive.

And if you're worried about compatibility issues, stick with Windows...
