SEO / Indexing Help!

I know seo consultation costs a lot of money, but I was wondering if anyone could give me a little help since I'm just starting to learn seo, link building, etc.

I've built the site Equipment Leasing Companies so I could try to put in practice what I have been reading about seo (and if the site generates some cash... hey, I won't complain). It's been about a month since I launched it, and it seems to rank well (first page) on yahoo for multiple keyword phrases, but for the same phrases the site is nowhere to be found on google. In fact, I have found only one long phrase in which I rank on the first page.

Any tips on how I can improve my google ranking?

Another problem I have is that yahoo seems to always link to the site's root. Example: try doing a search on yahoo.com (US) using the phrase "why do companies lease equipment". My site ranks #1 and you see a snipet of the post I wrote as the description, but it does not link to the actual article. instead it links to the root. Why?

Any help would be appreciated.

The most common problem speaking about indexation is that
some forget to make backlinks on all the existing pages (the importance of link draft)
some forget about backlinks on the new pages
all that may lead to bad results in SERP
so I'm not sure what your problem is, but be careful with the backlinks on your pages

It's been about a month since I launched it.

I suggest that you wait for sometime. Your site is very new: and for new sites, stable ranking/indexing comes as time passes and as the site attracts some good backlinks.

Yep as its a new site, you still need to wait and slowly build backlinks and optimize the site in a better way so that Google indexes it, finds how well you are linked by others and then tries to fit you in a deserving rank.

Seems there is less competition in that niche in Yahoo search engine so you are already getting ranked well, although for the root than the inner page. Getting into better positions in google is not very easy and quick, unless you are using some blackhat tricks, which later adversely affect your site. So be slow and steady.

I just you modify your site into static pages instead of posts . Under every title page you can have subpages with other relevant topics.

Also get a SEO plugin and add more pictures. Link out to Authority sites.

Definitely get more backlinks.

Thanks for everyone's replies. I will try to follow what you suggested. I am having a hard time building backlinks. I have submitted the site to multiple directories and commented in a few blogs (although most were nofollow) but I am not sure where else or how else to build my backlinks... without having to pay.
I guess I will try to open another thread about backlinks.
