Hello!

I have been thinking of selling my names through SEDO. However I happen to read quite a few bad experiences on forums and blogs. Was hoping you guys could give me some advice or share your experiences dealing with SEDO.

thankz

Im not sure there is any advice to be given. You list your domains, wait for offers, accept an offer, then hope like hell the buyer actually pays and that Sedo doesn't take months to complete the transaction.

Sedo

No matter what people say about www.Sedo.com , I think the key to them is that you can actually find a end user there. Or, I should say an end user can find you, and your domains! Namepros.com is the best name forum there is, but not the best place to sell domains! Everyone is too smart , looking for a deal, and very very tight with their money!
You can try www.Afternic.com , www.TDname.com , and others.

All I know is I couldn't even get minimal offers for Uv.tv , and Tuned.in , and then sold both at Sedo: Uv.tv; $4,355 , and Tuned.in for $2,000! I didn't even try to counteroffer for Tuned.in , maybe I could have sold more.
I am sure there are many other members here who have sold domains at Sedo for a lot more money than they thought they could get for it!
Sure some people have had problems, I have even voiced a few. What do you have to lose though? You may have to wait a week or two, but it it is a good sale, it should be well worth it.

In my experience, Sedo has always delivered.

At least half of the stories you hear about non-paying buyers come from sellers who "rigged" the sale. It's a common practice for some to fake a high bid, send it to auction, and hope for a big sale. If the second bid never comes, they must find an excuse to explain why the domain was never transferred from their account.

^ This happens a LOT ... especially in the early "hype" stages with newer extensions! :imho:

I've also received lots of low (Wholesale numbers) offers on domains at Sedo, as well.
Good Luck with your sales in 2008!

I have no complaints there since I have received lots of offers.
Most are lowball to which I won't even respond.

Right now I have an offer of $280 for a 3char.com - I will let it go because it will bring more in future.

I have had no luck with Sedo auctions - none ever went above the initial bid.

Although it can take a few days or a couple of weeks - never a problem with closing - my highest sale at Sedo was $8500

I made most of my sales at Sedo, you can get much better prices than forums. It takes time, but they are reliable.

Thanks guys! From what you guys mentioned, SEDO seems pretty fine to me. I think I'll try my luck with SEDO.

I have used Sedo for a paid domain name parking solution for the past few years and have had no problems at all. I get a steady stream of interested buyers making offers and have sold a few domains.
Just seems a lot easier for me to use a service like sedo that provides parking templates and securely handles the whole selling process.

I have no problems with Sedo at all. Just make sure that if you are selling low end domains ($xx, or very low $xxx), you actually park them at Sedo in order to avoid the hefty minimum fees they impose for non-parked domains.
Other than that, it is just another way to advertise what you have and another opportunity to find a buyer. Cannot hurt even if you do ocassionaly get a dud bid from a non-payer. At least for me, the positive transactions have outweighed the negative experiences by far.
Good luck!

Does that mean that the domains name needs to be pointed to the sedo parking name servers or it costs how much more to sell ?

Just wondering because sometimes I discover a domain that I have for sale at sedo but its not pointing to the parking page for whatever reason.

Right, you need to park these domains at Sedo, then you pay only 10% commission. But you have a minimum fee $50-$150 if you do not park with them. Sedo pricelist
