What is your advice regarding selling domains on Sedo.

I have put up quite a few domains on Sedo and neither sold. After some research I found alot of domainers have this experience (not selling on Sedo), while others have consistent sales on Sedo as well.

  • How do you sell on Sedo ?
  • What type of network must a domainer join to improve the chances of selling a domain on Sedo ?
  • Are there private forums, or facebook groups to this effect.
Thanks

Are you simply listing the domains there or have you started auctions for them?

I don't use Sedo ~2 years already... except their escrow.
Regarding 1and1 - I use it regularly ~7 years...

Great question! Similar story, been parking and trying to sell there for a few year..no success worth talking about!

Hoping, someone who uses Sedo successfully will answer..

Hi

selling on sedo, is a waiting game

it's not for the impatient.

and.....

if you list and don't point, then you're one out of millions

if you point with no traffic, then you're one out of millions

if you list low quality, then you're one out of millions

Good Luck!

imo....

I sell eight to ten domains a year on SEDO. Quality of the domain is the real factor. On low value domains, I list with a fixed price anywhere from 288 to 788.

High value domains I just accept offers.

~50% of all Sedo-sales are under $500, their own stats...

I try to make my domaining decisions using statistics. Since, I have decided to go into this full time, I might as well have a robust system that helps me make decisions with level of certainty.

I am currently gathering info on Sedo, and I share the basic data here. It takes alot of time and work to dig through the data and find the "patterns".

I have completed my research on pattern for godaddy and it should be on the namepros blog soon.

So guys, if you have any info that cant point in the right direction or provide on clues on what concentrate on looking besides the basic stuff - please share. Thanks

Hi

stats, don't tell the intricacies of the sale or how that sale was negotiated to arrive at that selling price

and believe it or not, "gut feeling" may be the basic driver that makes the decision to acquire.

imo....

Smart to pay attention to trends, which cctld and gtld are most popular.

Well, I guess starting an actual auction on Sedo (like @webscent mentioned doing) and just listing them as offer/buy now , are essentially 2 different things?

I have yet to start an auction on Sedo, although ALL my domains are parked there, or listed at least.

I have only ever had successful auctions on Flippa (although it seems folks only interested in buying low). Godaddy auctions I could never really figure out.

My best sale last year was 8k. My average sale around $1.5k. Most sales are $500 or less.

Some domains have type-in traffic, others are service or product specific keywords. I've only sold a few vanity or brandable domains.

Sedo charges 10% for a domain listed with a fixed price. 15% for everything else with a $60min.

No, you can't see my list.

Well, I guess starting an actual auction on Sedo ...

I haven't had success with SEDO auctions. I've sent good offers to auction and never received another bid. I just use fixed prices or negotiate.

Also.. some SEDO brokers / account managers are better then others. My previous AM was a rock-star. My current AM hasn't helped with a single sale.

+ 20% commission if bid comes from their MLS...

Because 99% of their users - are just another domainers...
