Ok, it happened like the scammer contacted me on Telegram (apparently got my number from my socials) to show interest in one of my domain for sale. We agreed on a price and proceeded to payment by crypto exchange. Initially, I have scepticism regarding crypto payment but being my first time, I accepted hoping that it will work.
He used buytonbit dot com (he declared that's the only exchange working in his supposed country, China) so I registered on it. He actually transferred the amount to my account on the exchange which I saw, and in turn, I transferred the domain to him on GoDaddy.
My attempt to withdraw the transferred fund into my local crypto account proves abortive as the exchange demands me to make minimum deposit of $100 from my local crypto account into the buytonbit dot com account before withdrawal can be effected. This sounds strange to me which prompted me to make further and extensive research on the exchange.
Eventually, I found out the following: exchange was recently registered, previous blacklisted as scam using bytobit and renamed to buytonbit, no company or contact address, email or ID, the fund I saw was a flash into that wallet. Any further attempt seeking with them will result into my local crypto account being compromised.
Unfortunately, my domain is gone and I can't get it back (according to GoDaddy support). It's a lesson learnt and I choose to let people here know that it's better to be cautious and smart with crypto exchange platform for payments.
