Selling at TDNAM. Few questions

I want to put few LLLL.com domains for the auction at TDNAM. What will be the best way to sell it 7-day public auction, or Offer/Counter Offer with Buy Now?

What is the usual way for people to search LLLL.com domains at TDNAM. As I understand people search domains using advanced search form. Do buyers usually choose only expired domain auctions or both expired and public auctions? What do you do?

Prices are now very good at TDNAM. But I'm afraid that if I put my domains to public 7-day auction at TDNAM they may not catch market price because for example people search only expired domains (looking for bargains and thinking that public auctions are overpriced). What do you think? Is it possible to program domain auction end time?

I would suggest to put the name in "7-day public auction"

I agree with owntype, I prefer to search expired auctions only, will often search public auctions as well, but I'm not interested in the offer/counter offer sellers at all.

I sell hundreds of domains at TDNAM through the 7 day auction format and have had great success with it. I would recommend this above the other selling options.

Yes that is what I'm afraid of. That exposure of expired auctions is higher than public auctions. Buyers get used that expired auctions are bargains while public is not. I personally noted that I'm searched only expired auctions automatically. It can occur that expired domain will be in watching list of 100 potential buyers while domain in public auction is only in 20 buyers watching list. What do you think about it?

Now about auction end time. If I put domain right now to public auction will it be ended exactly in 24*7=168 hours?

No, when you create your listing you choose which time area you want your listing to finish in eg. 6am - 7am, 8pm - 9pm etc. TDNAM will then end your auction at a time within that hour period. It is kind of confusing but I think it is designed so that you get to choose what hour you want it to end in which is good and then they decide exactly what time in relation to what other auctions are finishing etc.

I hope this makes some sort of sense :)

Hard to say as I haven't really analyzed differences between what names have sold for and the times I have had them finish. As I list about 800 names through the 7 day auction at a time I have them evenly spread so as to not flood the times. eg. I will list the first one to end at 12am - 1am, the next one at 1am - 2am, the next at 2am - 3am etc. until all 24 periods are done and then repeat. That way I do not have too many finishing in the same time area. I also try not to have more than a hundred or so per day.

Best regards
David

AussieDomainer,

Thanks for sharing. Do you pay more to set reserve prices? ROI on the names sold via TDNAM? Reseller prices?

Hope to hear from you soon. :tu:

90% of the public auctions on TDNAM are overpriced.

Hi

Yes, you pay extra to set reserve prices. Therefore I simply start the auction at what I want for the name and 99% of the time receive the one bid. I generally stick to selling names I have paid reg fee for and get about 500% ROI.

Only bought names off TDNAM and haven't really tried to sell domains there before, but am thinking of giving it a try. Does the domain I list for sale on TDNAM have to be regged with GD, or can it be regged with different registrars, ie Namecheap? If so, how does the transfer work, is it a transfer between me and GD or me and the person who buys it?

Cheers

You can list names that are registered with other registrars. I list many names registered with Moniker, Fabulous etc. Once you sell a name you have access to email the buyer and ask them for their details at eg. NameCheap so that you can make the push.

I tend to note in the description of the listing where it is registered as many buyers automatically presume it is at GoDaddy and may be disappointed if it is registered elsewhere. Most people are happy to setup an account and have the domain pushed while others make a transfer request through GoDaddy.

The TDNAM auctions are growing at a very rapid pace, may be a good place to auction a few domains
