Well, if I were to sell a domain, what steps does it take to do it?

You make sure you have full control of the domain you want to sell and then can you list the domain at forums like this or domain trading websites like sedo.com

If you don't know the value of your domain might it be a good idea to ask for an appraisal. You can do that here
