I wanted to know is it normal for hosts to put self signed certificates on shared ssl, i have reseller hosting and the host has self signed the certificate so the problem i have is that everytime it goes to the shared ssl it says the certificate is not trusted is this normal with most hosts?

also they charge $30 to install certificates is that normal as well?

It's very common to have self signed certificate as shared SSL. With several hosts I had, it was like that.. But mine take $0 to install your own SSL cert.

IMHO, it's normal for hosts to put self signed certificates on shared SSL. However, i'm not sure if $30 is normal for installing your own certificates since different hosts have varied prices :D

Yeah, its normal for small hosts, though usually not for the shared cert, but rather for the cert. to protect the admin panel and such.

Tell them to take a look at http://cacert.org/ though.
