What about people searching for "Buy a domain name"? Surely they'll not see your personal marketplace before they see the big boys that you could be listed on?
Another reason why I am more inclined toward hosted solution.
Who are you asking?
Mine is in my signature
The three in your signature were all so slow in connecting I simply couldn't wait. Which kinda doesn't give your WebHosting Business much to recommend it![]()
Definitely self hosted. I use wix. Very easy to work with and I can customise everything in few seconds![]()
Yes, you are right...I honestly like that goldfish, but will be probably removed soon, that was just part of my experimenting with wixProbably should have it's own thread if there is not one already but saw this on a couple of blogs, good for those self-hosting, Escrow Make Offer forms:

-side note, get off wix people

Right now, parked page, links going to Sedo
Next year after the Holidays, when I have more time, will work more on domain site, more direct
You have goldfish and gobs of goo floating around on some pages. Just because you can, doesn't mean you shouldMy first sites ever used to have that kind of stuff. Bouncy text on fire, animated gifs etc.
Efty and DMP can be considered competitors or does DMP offer a more comprehensive service?
According to my experience DMP looks like the Shopify for Domains Marketplace.
In what measure using this kind of platform you are not in control of your business?
What is DMP?
This is one question I am very neutral on. If you don't have the skills or time to do a good job on self-hosted AND to keep it current, then for sure go the Efty or a marketplace such as Undeveloped that have good landers.
I think the main advantage, beyond those already listed, of self-hosting is that you can easily transform a parking/landing page into a several page mini-site that may attract traffic (and possibly revenue) that will eventually result in a lead to a sale.
Also, by self-hosting, you can do the arrangement in a way suited to your portfolio. Efty have lots and lots of lander choices, and an excellent set of categories, but it may not perfectly match your portfolio no matter how much you tweak it.
Also if you handle only a handful of extensions, the broad list on services like Undeveloped are not optimum for your potential clients.
If you self-host you can also put in links that suit your name. For example if you want to link to information for potential end users to articles that guide them through the steps in a domain transfer and answers FAQs.
I think both options can, and do, work excellently for domain investors. One advantage of a service like Efty is that I think it gives potential end users more of a sense of comfort than I site hosted by someone that they know nothing about.

If you have several thousand we find using
Its all good with a few hundred domains self hosting but when you get to a large amount its easier to use a platform like undeveloped which puts more trust for the buyer.
self hosting is fine but we prefer using a decent platform and add the 9% to our price.
We have had many buyers put of with normal landing pages with mini sites etc they just never enquire anyway the results we are having are great its all what is best for you.
