Hello, my name is Josh Pierce.

I have been semi-self employed since June , 2002 - but have only been profitable since April 2003. Since then, we have grown by leaps and bounds. My "business" is an onlne image hosting site: MyImgs.com / HostMySig.com.

I have ventured into other hosting avenues before launching MyImgs.com, but have never really survived in those areas. I have found my niche in the image hosting game with over 26,000 members since April 2003.

Someday, I hope to make nough from the site to become completely and freely self-employed.

heh i've used hostmysig.com before :)

Gotta chime in on the boxer thing. I was talking to my business associate the other day and realized that here I was standing in my boxers in my home office at 10:00 A.M. Try that on in the corporate world LOL
Scott

Aren't we all glad Video Phones never caught on! Would scare the customers away for sure. ;)

:notme:

PS: I will chime in about myself as soon as I wake up.

lol...

Nice thread AND posts folks. Entertaining yet somewhat Informative.

Welp, My Names Matt. I live in England. Met my wife online back in 95, got married to her in 97. Set up a InfoSource company in London which went well for 1 year, then went pearshaped as the big players with several million jumped into my market. Lost a couple of contracts and went to work for an ISP in Leeds. They floated, went tits up and I've hopped around the mobile comms and IT sector for last couple of years. Now, I've re-defined my previous company and put out SY4.com :)

We do some contract design, builds, development, advising and such. doesnt really pay the bills, so have to go get a simple little 9-5 to cover the bills until I convince one of you guys to buy me out ;) lol

Hey all!

I'm Ali, and I've been self-employed since 1998- when I began a Florida corporation in what I hate the most- Medical Billing. Well, I 'm actually more of a consultant who goes around training people on how to bill. But I also have a 9-5 (more like 8 to 8) as a reimbursement specialist manager (other word for middle management biller) :p in San Antonio, TX.

Anyway, I am new to this "DN thing", and I thank you all for your helpful advice and support! This forum is AWESOME!!!!!

Maybe someday I too can sit around in my Lucky Charms boxers all day and make the big bucks like you guys :snaphappy:

P.S.- Are there any other female biz owners in da house?

Hi,

I enjoyed reading everyone's posts.
I'm Cindy and I hope to be part of the "future entrepreneurs" as RJ put it in the first post. I'm currently finishing up college with a degree in computer science and I actually hope to get a decent real programming job when I graduate next May. Hopefully after a few years of making money with a real job, I'll be able to travel the route of self-employment, or at least the route of "making a lot of money". :p
Believe it or not, I have had great luck lately with trading stocks and I hope to eventually (soon) not have to commute to a 9-5 job (funny because I haven't even started with that yet!)
By the way, if anyone knows of any companies that will need computer programmers starting around next June, I'd love to know about them. :)
That's all for now.
Cindy

Hi, my name is Phil and I started and incorporated in 1999 due to moving from Cleveland, the Rock-n-Roll capital of the world, to Baltimore. Did pretty well until taking on teh task of raising the kids while the wife concentrated on her career. So business has been a little slow. I do web hosting, web design, domain names, system database designs, and GSA Transprotation auditing. Unfortunately, that may change pretty soon. Some of you know I am looking to get out of teh domain business, still looking for valid offers :).

Hi Folks,

Thought I would throw in my tuppence worth.

I started working with computers back in the mid eighties ( Data base programming ).

In March of 2000 I launched my own company ( registered in the UK ) providing various web based services ( mostly hosting and domain reg ).

I am now merging with an Australian company and we are selling off ... have not yet decided what to do once that all goes through but might take a bit of a break :)

Wishing you all the best

Richard

Hey,

I'm Haider. I'm 21, from Houston. I quit my tech support rep job almost exactly a year ago. Didn't do anything and lived off savings for a few months :) and then got into the web design biz - since I'm a coder, I partnered up with a friend that's a really good designer and we complement each other's strengths. I'm doing OK but since I don't have the "regularity" of getting back to back clients all the time just yet (only had a few so far), I'm looking to do other things such as start up other online business on my own. Hopefully some of these kooky ideas will work out B-)

Take care.
