Seeking SEO advice for blockette.com

I have recently established my website, blockette/./com, as a unique way to conveniently browse the internet's top blog headlines, latest video releases from the top YouTube channels, latest images pinned by the most followed people on pinterest, and live updates from the top tweeters.

basically, I'm shooting for PR for the keywords Top Blogs, Top Videos, Top Pinners, and Top Tweeters.

I am relatively new to SEO, so I'm hoping someone may be able to offer some advice.

You already did a good job. Consider adding some h2 tags also and check if you have xml sitemap added and if not add it.

#1 Submit your website to google,bing and yahoo through there submission page.

#2 Try to get a good domain name. Make it look professional with no dashes and no numbers if possible. Google recently cam out with the
EMD (exact match domain) update giving domains with keywords less authority but its still a good idea to get keywords if you can because it is easier for people to remember you.

#3 Submit your website to trustworthy directories. One that I recommend is Dmoz (Open Directory Project).

#4 Get a Google Webmaster and Google Analytics account. These tools can help you moniter your website activity in the same way Google see's it.

#5 Always write unique content. Google does not like to see duplicate content on your website. They want to see something fresh and useful to the user that no one else has.

#6 Use alt-text for your photos. Basically give any Image on your site a name that is relevant to your webpages. Google bots cannot see images. So give them some text.

#7 Use keywords in you page name. This will help you rank higher for the keywords you are targeting.

#8 Use keyword phrases in your content. Using keyword phrases in your content will help you rank for that keyword. But don't use it to much or it will actually hurt you.

#9 Get backlinks. Getting quality backlinks from trustworthy sites can increase your traffic and increase your rankings in Google SERP. Some good ways to get backlinks include Forum Signatures, Web 2.0, Guest Blog writing etc.

#10 Diversify Everything. Try to diversify everything. For example. the way you get backlinks such as, anchor text, and so on. Google does not like it when you only do things one way.

#11 Stay in it for the long haul. Making a website and getting on the front page of Google is a long road. It does not happen over night. SEO results come in weeks and months not days and hours. For competitive keywords it can take years to succeed.

Thank you so much for the helpful advice. #11 is probably the one thing I needed to read the most. I had no idea that it took so long to see results after optimizing your site. The keywords I am after are pretty competitive too.

Would you happen to know if there is a way that you can find how many backlinks you need to make it to the first page of Google (besides Micro Niche Finder)?

Well It's not really a matter of how many. It really depends on the quality of your backlinks. Try to always get backlinks from high PR websites. Google trust those Websites more. If you want to see where your competitors are getting backlinks and what kind of PR backlinks they are getting I found a great tool the other day called SEO spyglass. The best type of backlinks are the ones you get naturally - when other sites link to you on their own Link baits should do the trick. Best of luck on your site!

Would you happen to know if there is a way that you can find how many backlinks you need to make it to the first page of Google (besides Micro Niche Finder)?

A good online backlinks metric tool is majesticseo. It's not free but well worth the investment.
