:hi:

I received an unsolicited email today inquiring about interest in purchasing a text link on one of my sites. I have not yet responded as the site in question is a parked page. Would love to hear how others would or have responded to such a request.

Thanks,
Mark

It depends on the reasons for the text link. Does your site have a good Pagerank? Google has made it very clear (even modifying the Webmaster Guidelines recently) that paid text links for purposes of traffic are okay, but if they are an attempt to gain Pagerank, the buyer and/or seller likely will be penalized for it, both in Pagerank and in the rankings.

The way you avoid this is to add the rel=nofollow tag to the link. If your prospective advertiser objects to this, then he probably wants to suck off your Pagerank, and I'd avoid it.

If he has no problem with it, then go for it.

I had an email offer to buy a domain name i own. I thought it was a real offer. I searched this person on google before i was going to write back. Ended up being an email list scam.

Thanks netmeg....Has nothing to do with Pagerank. The email eluded to the requested link to be put on a specific section of the page. The domain is a very specific one that he/she could potentially monetize well with the right service. My main problem is, as this is a parked page (imodo), I wouldn't know if or how to insert my own link. I didn't think it was possible to do this.

I was thinking of countering to see if he might have an interest in buying the domain vs "renting" some space on it. I don't really have the background to properly develop this name, or I would consider going that route.

I am using whypark, it is easy to add text link. But whypark needs to do much more for support
www.SEODATA.com, at the top, right, I can add the ad there, or an article to post. For IMODO, I have no clues, I got the high traffic domain www.sfone.com which is perfectly with premium, but they dont let me use it while I am in North America.
