Taking into account the recent interpretation of the law regarding domain names containing a TM I have just registered this domain. My intention is to use it to highlight the situation regarding the domain parking and marketing of Sedo as well as the fiasco and subsequent debacle of the Sedo/mTLD auction.

I would love to hear market valuations of just the domain name, purely for academic interest.

SedoSucks.mobi

All input greatly appreciated.

But quite an apt domain hack I think.

Not too worried about the value more the presence.

Priceless as an advertising joke, stunt against .mobi and sedo in light of the recent fiasco of them selling a whole bunch of names which they had no right to sell, put up for auction etc.

Disgraceful.

I don't think your actually after a monetary value are you Sir?

Good name, hope it serves you well.

Have been following the story closely and in the beginning made some quite outspoken remarks about this issue.

Best of luck in all your endeavours.

Mark

Yeah, sorry I had guests round and probably rushed my reply

Undeveloped not much value, although if developed, especially if Sedo tried to stop the use of the domain, it could attract a bit of attention and traffic.

In light of whats happened it is very apt.

I am sure it will get a 'few' visits everyday, especially if the case is not settled and Sedo/mTLD decide to carry on with the 3rd auction!

But it will be an honest critique site. No advertising or anything like that. Must be legitimate use.

Hi Johname, thanks for the heads-up but was aware of it, but thank you anyway.

Surprisingly Sedo haven't bothered to come on this thread and give an opinion, but I think they may know of it.

Still chasing more appraisals please, the more the better (will help in any UDRP/WIPO).

You could generate a lot of cash out of this domain though believe me if you are planning on developing a site to defame another company, you do need to seek some legal advice first.

One of the previous online marketing companies I have been associated (One of the largest online marketing companies, whom i wont label here) had a similar ex-customer purchase the same style domain - the company name with 'sucks' on the end.

The problem, with this is that you have crossed the border of giving you opinion to defaming a company on your own personal views, views which may impact their reputation and future sales.

The company i was associated with eventually sought legal action and sued the customer for Deformation, the company won and the site has been shut down with a *7 Figure* dollar compensation ordered by the courts.

The fact the company succeeded shows the laws view on Deformation, this company was internationally based as well.

Also you need to realise that even before they spend money suing you, they can simply have their lawyers write a formal letter to the ISP or Hosting company, and the Hosting Company will hut your site down, fearing a lawsuit.

Any money that you make by defaming another company will also definitely be ordered to pay back in compensation, IF the company successfully sues you.

So make sure, you style the site as 'Informative - based on facts' and not a site that has big lettering saying SEDO SUCKS, and telling everyone not to go there.

Just my advice :)

The fact is though that Sedo does suck and they can kiss my Cornish ass, couldn't give a flying fig whether they like it or not.

This kind of apologetic attitude towards Sedo gets right up my nose especially in light of recent events.

I for one have lost complete faith in them as a company and as for mobi I will not be registering any more names with them either until this fiasco has been sorted out properly.

Don't tell me you havn't seen what transpired recently with these two companies?

Staggers belief that they think they can get away with it.

To suggest that they might take umbrage with this domain name and any subsequent website, no offense, is laughable, in the light of their recent behaviour.

TheBaldOne has posted this here for a reason, I for one totally and utterly agree with him.

I am aware of all thats been happening with SEDO, my post above is simply outlining the lengths that corporate companies will go to if you defame them, this is common sense.

No company will simply allow other people to defame them whether your views are correct or not. They will always at least 'try' and have your site shut down.

So my advice is to seek legal advice on the laws view of deformation. at the end of the day, it does NOT matter at all how you feel about a company as the courts ALWAYS have the final say.

Cheers,

The point is, it's not defamation if it is true, that Sedo in this matter have acted like a complete ass.

That is not defamation, it is a statement of fact, since Sedo themselves put their company in the position of being ridiculed by their own actions.

Sue me, I have the resources at hand to deal with it.

That is true, that some legal definitions of defamation include the words 'false' meaning that its only defamation if they statement was false and mis-leading.

Though other legal jurisdictions will label defamation as more along the lines of "Written or oral statements made by one person to another, and made public ("published"), which tend to bring the character or reputation of that person into disrepute, "

It all depends where the 'publisher' of the website site sedosucks.mobi resides.

But as i was saying earlier in the case i brought up, this was the same scenario, where an ex-customer brought up legitimate accusations against the company, however as they wrote it in a defaming way and threw in their own views by telling people 'not to use the company again' rather than writing it as factual account of their experience with the company they were sued.

just make sure you put a site on it that isn't mobile compliant :)

Good luck with the venture.

I own SedoBlog.com , parked at Sedo gets around 80 hits per day.

I would be broke if I registered the name of everything I thought sucked; ThisRestaurantSucks.com, ThatMovieSucks.com, MyCousinBobSucks.com, NewestBoyBandSucks.com, etc.

Instead of wasting my time on things that suck, I just move on to things that don't suck.

Priceless .MOBI domain! :music: :imho:

PS. When do you suppose we'll start to see the mandated developments (along with respective advertising and promotions) from the Sedo (and Traffic) auctioned premium domains? :snaphappy:

Happy Holidays! :santa:
