Sedo.tv, talk about an auction exploding out of the gate:) I think the market has spoken within the first 10 minutes of the auction. This is exciting!!!

Jimbo,

Here is the plan for Success!!!

Send her "red roses" and ask to Marry her. After looking over your .tv portfolio, she smells the money and can't resist and says "yes"!!! She tells all her girlfriends that the man she is going to marry owns, US.tv. There is excitement in the air!!!

Once your married, she reduces, US.tv to standard renewal. The name is now worth $200,000 overnight. She divorces you, and the court makes you sell US.tv at her request, you have to sell it and she get's 50% or $100,000 for the name and you walk away with $100,000:) This happens everyday in California:)

Thanks, Jim

I think it's already passed the halfway mark (the 'wild card' deing bonafide End users??), IMHO. :red:

Just my two sense,

As on now, 3 out of the 5 I picked are already top of the charts, don't expect the order to change much, though the prices will.

Anyone want to hazard a guess to the top closing price?

Jeff, think this auction is going to surprise you, snoop is right in saying the dropping of the premium renewals makes .tv that much more attractive.

It makes sense that the new, cheaper pricing structure would add perceived value to those domains in a hyped up auction in and amongst .TV domainers and enthusiasts ... but some of the systemic problems of the ccTLD ".TV" and its brand will continue IMHO. We'll see how it all ends up, but as importantly ... whether any actual End users acquire these domains and build exciting video-centric content/websites! :gl:
It's been fun to follow the auction, and see all the hoopla (including mediocre domains being registered en masse with overpriced auction prices) ... but, unfortunately, things all back to normal for the .TV on April 8th! :imho:

All the best,
Jeff B-)

How is this even relevant sir?

Care to hazard a guess to developed domains v/s parked or monetized by domainer domains in terms of % for .com? A domainer is interested in his ROI, not in promoting any TLD.

When I started saying ccTLDs were the 'next big thing' back in 2007, people laughed at me, now they have their own conferences, premium auctions, et al. Staying ahead of the curve is where the profits are... ask the people who came late to the llll.com game.

I don't understand ... are you disagreeing with my opinion that, as importantly (as some final auction prices) is whether End users participate to acquire some of the referenced domains to then build exciting video-centric ".TV" websites?
IYHO.

Thanks,
Jeff B-)

I'm disagreeing with you as to the value of the domains. And of the possibility of these in particular to make a profit for their investors.

The raison d'รชtre of any domain is meaningful development, irrespective of the tld or the media it is being used to sell.

A .com someone registered in 1995 is not worthless because no one has developed it since then, it does have inherent value w/o the end user development, or doesn't it?

It may ... but by 2005, in your scenario, the public was AWARE of - and End users desired and had adopted / branded - the .COM; but here we are 10+/+ years later as still no one, and particularly End users, generally knows or cares about the ".TV" (which is why I'm hoping for End user participation in the referenced Sedo auction(s)), IMHO. :talk:

But development is of particular importance to an extension (ccTLD) that is not established ... in the building of an healthy "ecosystem"; .TV's are going no where other than where they've been since inception without unique and compelling, exciting 'video-centric' content, development, and promotion! :yell:
I fail to understand how simple domainer-to-domainer "sales" and trades/exchanges between members add value to those owning, or thinking about registering, .TV domains IMHO.

Kind regards,
Jeff B-)

I would really appreciate it you guys don't bid anymore on Upload.tv. I been dreaming about that name ever since I saw it in the auction:)

This is the one and only time i am going to reply.

There are many .End users who are using .tv for sites including many BIG companies.
Lists have been posted on here several times which is why i am not going to post any, as myself and others have spent time researching and making those lists in the past, lists which are easily found if one desires to find them.
I see many .tv ads each day( at least 4 or 5) and they are the norm over here, here am repeating the same things i was saying 12 months ago because you can not be bothered to search archived threads and see for yourself that MANY end users are using .TV.Or is it you you wont like what you find should you bother to research these things yourself?.

Hi SR,
I am not talking about simple redirects ... and I see zero stand-alone, developed .TV's on a daily basis (perhaps it's a geographic thing?) IMHO. The two that I have seen ... "MLB.TV" and "CBScares.TV" ... are both URL redirects to the respective .COM's; if 100 ordinary people outside of domainers are asked about the ".TV" my guess is 0 or maybe 1 person might have heard of it, and they'd look & feel confused. :guilty:
That's just the reality of the present situation (to which content / development of auctioned domains could help to address in a timely manner), IMHO. :yell:

Thanks for the reply,
Jeff B-)

Now you have made me reply!. That is your reality, because you refuse to research.
The reality is there are many, here are a few ( you made me do this aswell), believe me there are plenty more.
These are all .tv sites, many big companies have seen the power of .tv brand and use the .tv to advertise and redirect also, this is not a bad thing, infact it proves the powerful branding that .tv has, did they choose a .org,.net or info NO, they chose a .tv.
For your info, these are all .tv sites and many of them are HUGE companies.

I think there are two very well known very well developed .tv websites to techno geeks (a vast community) and regular folks too.

One is twit.tv and the other much larger site is ustream.tv - which covered the presidential debate live as well as the inauguration live and was repeatedly mentioned in news broadcasts here in NY as one of the few places to watch the debates live.

It ranks as 506 in Alexa rankings - take a look at the site - I think it rivals the new look of youtube and then some.

Anyone with a webcam and an opinion will have either heard of Justin.Tv or Ustream.Tv
