Sedo.tv, talk about an auction exploding out of the gate I think the market has spoken within the first 10 minutes of the auction. This is exciting!!!

You've misquoted me ... I openly urged caution for folks considering investing in the .TEL (as I've also done with the proposed .WEB); the fact of the matter ... and exactly as I stated at the time ... is that the .TEL is a shorter, more effective BRAND than the awkward ".MOBI"; in many respects just as the highly brandable .WEB is a more broad, encompassing, and fresh proposed gTLD than the stale, sideways 10+/+ year old ccTLD ".TV", IMHO.
Regardless of whether you agree with my OPINIONS ... and it's a FACT; the proposed new gTLD's will be dilutive in nature to the ".TV" because it is not an established extension, rather moreso a cute / vanity / niche ccTLD. :imho:

So technically, if you follow through on your logic, .tv MUST BE a more effective brand than .WEB or any other gTLD because it's shorter

I personally think that .WEB is going to be a big waste of time, just like .biz, .info, etc etc. Why? Today the internet (or WEB) = .com, .org, .tv, .de, .co.uk etc etc. Some people obviously think that .web will be a common denominator and replace them all, which it definitely won't!

.WEB is just another money machine, whilest .tv atleast has a purpose. .TV represents television, video and multimedia based websites.

Much of the domainer community did not realize the .TV pricing structure had changed & that ENOM had opened the floodgates on many premium .TVs until it was too late. The SEDO.tv auction was publicized in advance but I suspect there are many domainers who are not following it closely and who don't even realize there is a simultaneous NP .TV auction. DNJournal only reports sales over $1000 but I believe when DNJ reports perhaps 30-40 .TV domain sales the same week, several of which will make the top 20, some eyes will be opened...

Your right. It will really open eyes when DN journal see's 30-40 sales of .tv in the same week. Outside of .com or maybe .net, I don't think any other extension has ever seen that. In fact, it might make me buy some more

Another note - SEDO also issues a weekly sales report which is picked up by some domain bloggers so even the $250-$750 domain sales will draw some interest among domainers who previously didn't pay much attention to the extension. This could be a double-edged sword as competition for drops will intensify but more participation could contribute to a more active .TV aftermarket.
