Received an offer today for a site that receives over 915 unique visitors already this month.

Offer was for $100, sent it straight to auction. The name is very hot right now, so I know it will attract attention.

Anyone else have thoughts or experiences doing it this way?
No negotiations, just sending it to auction?

Good and bad thoughts welcome.

It's not a bad idea to send it to auction. I think most people do not know there offer could create an auction, so they might be surprised or upset the domain went to auction. (this could be the reason behind people not paying as well)

My (limited) experience thus far is that things at auction tend to get overlooked unless they truly are a "gem" - my first move would have been to counter, not send to auction.
Just my .02

I agree with Allan - after you counter offer - if they still don't meet an agreeable price for you - then auction. At the very least the second time around has brought the offer up and if you do auction you won't get less than that. Right?

.04 cents :)
