SEDO - Auction Search

Watch
Hi Guys

Wonder if you could help me ?
Against my better judgement, I put a domain name up for sale via Direct Auction at Sedo.com

Long story short is :
1) Auction page says 444 hits to date.
2) I can only find my auction listing 'searchengine.io' with an exact match search.

I cannot see how i have gotten 444 hits, when i cannot even find my auction listing myself!

I have even tried a blank search to show the current running auctions.
It says 97 results but it actually only shows 14 results by relevance.
When i search by time remaining (descending) it says 106 results by only shows 19 !

Please could you try searching for my auction listing and post your results ?

Many Thanks
OOH OOH AAH AAH EEE EEE

@B0NES looks like it is a good thing your auction did not start yet

@Sedo Its 8:00 CET and my auction still not showing. 94 results, but only 16 visible.
My auction is due to finish in a couple of hours, and I will be expecting a full and immediate refund.

Maybe after this fiasco you will consider implementing weekend support staff on some level.

111 results now, and 24 visible.
Perhaps the sedo chimps are at work trying to resolve this shambles.

But wait, if only they were available at weekends @Sedo

Another update

I am now seeing 133 results and around 50 are visible.
My auction should of finished 15 minutes ago....but it appears it has now been extended for 24 hours!

I hope this is not some feeble attempt at compensation !?!

if you auction a domain at sedo you want to forward the domain via nameservers to sedo

http://searchengine.io

should have

ns1.sedoparking.com

ns2.sedoparking.com

as long as the auction runs

@frank-germany

i agree. However, that has zero bearing on what has occured at sedo with the auctions failure.

@Sedo looks like you have finally fixed the problems. However, extending my auction by 24 hours when its been broken at least 48 hours if not more, does not cut it.

I want a full and immediate refund.

Yes, I received a reply to my support ticket. And now I see the auctions are appearing and it is fixed.

Still no reply from sedo here or on the email ticket raised over the weekend, and which was added to yesterday.

They extended the auction for 24 hours, but offered NO explanation or apologies.
In fact NO correspondence from sedo whatsoever.

Totally unacceptable in my view.

if you don't work on weekends , you can't answer tickets ...

@frank-germany thats the whole point...and why they should work weekends !

If you were actually defending sedo there ?
They were working yesterday and didnt answer the ticket, and last week were working 3-4 days before they answered. What would be your answer to that?

Here is the reply I finally received from Sedo.com and as expected they do not acknowledge any problems with the search function !

"Thank you for your email.
As I mentioned in my previous email, we do not operate during weekends and the holidays and as such we could not see this email. As it stands, the auction was over, and I can not see if this is a technical issue or something with your browser. Do you have a screenshot that may show the problem that occurred to your domain?

As for traffic to your domain, it all depends if people are interested in the domain and if they click on the domain that is at the auction. Many factors affect traffic. As it stands, we will not be able to issue a refund as the auction worked based on your description. It looks like you did receive traffic to the domain which means it was visible to the public."

My thoughts on this are :
1) The auction results started to function a little better early monday morning, and it was seemingly fully resolved soon after. Now as clearly stated, they do not work weekends. So thats some coincidence that everything started working soon after they returned to work Monday morning !!
2) After the problems were resolved, they extended my auction for 24 hours, without explanation - perhaps to avoid liability. The only reason for Sedo to extend the auction is, because they were aware the was a problem over the weekend.
3) YES, sedo i got traffic, but i got 1300 hits approx altogether and around 500 over the weekend when MY AND MANY OTHERS auctions were NOT visible. So were these weekend hits bot/fake hits or another system issue ? How do i know if any of the traffic was legit ?

So anyway as expected, Sedo are refusing to listen or acknowledge there was a major problem, so i have raised a dispute with Sedo via Paypal.

Please let me know your thoughts guys ?

Thanks

Just a recap and update......

Sedo are just total butt nuggets.

1) Sedo's auctions failed early this month for 48-72hrs minimum, after which they extended their auctions for 24 hours as a compensation.

2) It all happened over a weekend. However, as they offer zero support during that time, i got zero support !
When i did get a response late Monday, they didnt seem to know that any problem occurred. Surprise!

3) I eventually did find an email in my junk folder a week ago. It which they explained there was a problem and they were working on it. Hilariously, the email was stamped at 5:01pm on the Monday and they had already resolved the problem about 7-8 hours previously! This helps demonstrate how utterly shambolic they can be.

4) They eventually promised a refund. However, they said I had started a chargeback via Paypal. I explained, i had only disputed the transaction by contacting Sedo via Paypal's Resolution Center. There I asked Sedo for a refund (not a chargeback).

I did so because, they had ceased dialogue with me (no reply to email conversation for 1 week, even though they had escalated the problem to management !). Sedo, have not responded once via the Resolution Center.

Just for the record nothing has been escalated to Paypal at all.

It has now been another 5 days since Sedo last made contact via email. Paypal have just emailed me to say the dispute must be resolved by Monday, or the case will close and i cannot re-open it or escalate to Paypal for a chargeback.

Any thoughts ? Thanks

how much did you lose?

if its less then $500 usd
you better move on

and you know
with whom you not want to work with in the future

if sedo and paypal are on that list
I bet you may add others soon

that list becomes very huge fast

To me it doesnt matter about how much @frank-germany . It is the principal. They have promised a refund, so they should honour that.

@Sedo really doesn't care about you or your business. They are worthless in my opinion. Just a company that used to be relevant who has been doing the same thing for a decade. Terrible customer support and a horrible vetting process. I bought a domain within 24-hours of it being listed and they claimed that the owner no longer owned it. I paid my money, I want my domain, no excuses. It's a joke to say that they're a business. They exemplify why the industry awards are the biggest joke out there.
