I have two domains, and must decide which one would be more appropriate both in SEO and marketing standpoints to make as the primary domain.

According to the SSL 3.0 specification, the official title is Secure Sockets Layer. VeriSign is perhaps the most well-known root certificate authority, and their website says Secure Sockets Layer.

However, you could argue that Secure Socket Layer makes more sense, since there's really only one socket per connection, and each connection forms its own independent layer.

It's worth noting that SSL is rarely used and is a deprecated technology. It has mostly been replaced with TLS. When people say SSL, they usually mean TLS. Only very old browser (10+ years) still use SSL.

While this is true and this post adds no beneficial value to the thread (though agreeing with your stance on both), SSL did give me a lightweight boost per site as indicated. ;)

What is a secure socket slayer? Sounds like something a h4ck3r put together.

Transport Security Layer is the modern term anyway.

An open socket slayer would find some great uses for that all-night sucker

I'm a bit biased since I'm very familiar with the term, but I think you could get something for those from an end user. If you search for SSL on Google, you'll get results that contain Secure Sockets Layer and Secure Socket Layer, so they're pretty good domains for certificate authorities.

@Paul Buonopane, many thanks for your help. I really appreciate it.

Google highlight "Secure Sockets Layer", but i think make a primary domain without "s". I will develop it.

It's sockets with an s

It requires two sockets to make a connection. A secure socket layer makes no sense.
