I usually use Godaddy to see if a domain is available or not and this morning I checked for Internet-Casino-Gambling and the .net was available, I didnt reg it at the time I thought about it but I'm trying to cut back anyway after thinking about it for a bit I figured I'd get it but I checked it a few minutes ago and someone else got it.

I find it kind of weird that a domain I was looking at a few hours ago is gone now. Are there programs or anything like that where people can see what domains other people are searching for on godaddy.

yes, there are! It's called Front Running. My guess is, hackers put some kind of code or whatever to track what people type in.

If you see a domain that you want, and it's available, register it right then. You can also check domains at Moniker.com as I do not think they have these problems.

The same happened to me too many times that I don't even check names anymore. I keep a list which can take weeks and whern I am ready I put it into Godaddy. I was so angry one day that I was on the phone to Godaddy. I checked a domain and it was available. I then decided to check that I have the correct spellings; guess what? within few seconds it was gone. At that point I was convinced Godaddy had soemthing to do with it that I called and spent counltess minutes asking what happened and they should look into it - they coulkd not help of course.. We live to learn I suppose.

Happened to me last week as well...the owner actually put it up for sale on another forum the day after regging it, which was the day after I searched it.

Would that suggest that he was "the front runner" or could he have gotten it legit somehow?

That has happened to me a few times,
at Estibot.com and at DomainSearch.com
I don't know how it happens, but I know for a fact,
there is someone that sits there, at probably EVERY Domain search site
and eats up all of the great ideas instantly.
So what I've done is also create a list, then phone it in,
while having the rep search and throw it into my cart immed.
As they are searching...I am too.
Just to make sure that a rep doesn't see something hot,
and tells you...sorry that's not available, then BAM takes it themself.
Cuz you know everyone who is in this business is also
throwing a coupla $$$ into their own piece of this Domain Real Estate!
Kinda Sad, but the more I read and learn, the more snaky you find out the business is.
I guess that will come WHENEVER any type of quick big money is sensed.
That's just my 2 cents!

It is alot of work,
but to me...it is worth it.
Yeah, I'm doing this AND having fun, but ultimately it IS an investment
and with a little extra work, one day that may save me the BIG ONE.
Because I know it has happened to me immediately after my search.
OK, so if it's a current news event....Sure it is probable!
NIU college shootings.com
10 ppl. are probably searching that RIGHT now.
But I have had random killer domains disappear within minutes
after being available.
I'll take the extra time and effort to secure my domains.
Sad to say but well worth the time!

A bunch of people say that happens to them on godaddy. I have never had this problem when searching for available domains on namecheap.

I do my searches at GoDaddy or PCNames.com/Search, but I often add them to my cart and think them over for 24 hours before buying them. Never ever had one regged there.

As many searches that happen each day, it could be coincidence, but this is kind of weird.
