I launched a search engine several moneths ago called http://www.xista.com and I don't think I'll be taking it any farther. Its basically a cross between a search engine and a directory. Webmasters submit their sites like a directory but people search like a regular engine. Xista.com has instant inclusion and each result title contains a hovering text box that gives searchers a summary of that site.
