Scrolling issues - how much is too much

Most of us can probably agree that a horizontal scroll is a no-no. But, when it comes to vertical scroll, how much is too much. Once source I've read says to try and keep it to two pages, or two page-down presses. Definitely wouldn't go over three, or your viewer may become board by the context and leave, or not find what they are wanting within the first few moments and leave.

Is this still the standard or do you think web surfers are becoming more comfortable with the "scroll"?

I think more then 3 is to much....I usually make content 1 page scroll...with 7 web pages to go through

More then 3 would probably tire those people who don't have a wheel in their mouse :D

I would say it all depends on the context. In most cases I think max 3 pages in 1024 res. But if it's an article/story/poem/whatever that has no natural parts to divide into pages it would only be unwise to divide it to follow any unwritten rules.

Yeah, I think it's wise to divide stuff that's over a few pages into seperate files, mainly because it's easier to read it and remember where you are in the text and where you left off.
