Uses I would see include...

• consultancy in academic/research/expert witness
• academic publishing services
• bibliographic search services
• freelancers in academic areas related to above
• possibly education institution project management
• epublishing
• literary agents for scholarly markets

AcademicWorks sold for $1250 - see that as close comparator.

The exact match scholarly(.)works is in someone's hands. That could be a positive or a negative. The singular scholarly(.)work is also taken.

The main exact alternatives are registered.

The similar name ScholarlyWork(.)net is available for hand-reg and might overlap with some of the possible applications I list.

I would say this has some probability to sell, but as with many domain names may be a long hold. Re pricing, I would find anything beyond low to mid-low $$$$ as not impossible but would lower probability of sale.
