Saw a great name go on Ebay

I was watching what I thought was a pretty cool name on ebay and I was very tempted to go for it but let it pass. Now I'm not too sure I did the right thing. What do you think?

The name was:

G.NU (that's right one character!!!)

It went for around $700

Your opinions would be interesting.

all single letter domains in an tld is worth a lot more than any premium .nets or .orgs because its perfectly good and easy to remember.
I too register only 3 -5 domains(if its available) in any tld like sex.tld or business.tld or casino.tld . but some single letter .tld 's are extremely brandable.

my opinion is that one letter domains, regardless of extention, are always worth a few hundred

$700 was too much for a one letter ccTLD, even if it sort of looked like, but wasn't really 'GNU'.
