...and I'll be on an airplane to NYC from LA. Go figure.

The ending should be exciting!

Great buy!

You got me on that one.

Luckily there is more where that came from.

It's time for me to get a nice sale and let the market develop a bit!

Save.mobi is a B-E-A-U-T-Y! Congradulations to both the seller and the buyer!

$10600 is far less than I expected.

Someone is getting a good deal if it ends now.

Jeremy
That someone is you! You just flipped a domain in a couple of months for roughly 300% profit. I'd be very happy! :D

I'm heavily, heavily vested in MOBI.

My personal finance person is going to lose commission in 2007.

:-P

Congrats to both buyer and seller. It definitely is a good buy, considering that the domain could be used as a online coupon site, it has a lot of potential.

^ A mobile coupon site, that's a really cool development potential IMHO! :tu:

PS. How much are the Sedo fees for a Winning Bid: $10,600 USD? :$: :talk:
Thanks for the assist.

Very nice buy and sell. Jeff, the fee is 10% no matter what the name was sold for unless special arrangements are made- normally thats the case for their featured listings.

I'm going to fly in the face of general opinion here, and say that $10600 was all the name was worth - the seller got the best out of this deal.

My reasons for this are;

The Ovt isn't that great at 25k - there are many names with that or more still unreg'd, or reg'd and can't find buyers, at a fraction of 1% of what this made.

The name isn't that focused - suggestions are being made to turn it into a site for this, or a site for that. To me that screams of having to contrive a use, and that means branding costs. If you want a coupon site, get a name with 'coupon' in it. This is why invest.mobi will always be worth more, it's focused, 100%.

To me at least, the word 'save' has a negative connotation. You 'save' something that's failing - obviously this is just a personal reaction to the name, you possibly think otherwise.

There are other names which I believe are preferable, ie, 'saving' - 'savings' - 'saver' - 'savers', the last 3 of which are more financially focused (there goes that word again).

Finally, the market priced it at $10,600 - say no more....

Now to sum up. I don't think the buyer got his trousers taken down, but I doubt the name would have sold without it being 'marketed' - if you've got $10k burning through your pocket, I reckon there are better deals to be had.

Thanks all for the congrats on the purchase;)

For the naysayers, I am glad there is some debate on the value of the name. That is what makes markets. I don't feel like I overpaid or underpaid. I won for exactly what I bid & I didn't buy it to flip it. Some of the speculation is probably coming from the perspective of "reselling" it. I almost never sell my names.

I don't see "save" as a negative word at all. It is just extremely marketable & extremely brandable. Really now, how difficult is it to remember the name "save"? It is easier to remember than most of the stemmed versions suggested above ("savings" excepted) or some regfee name I just made up. Beyond that, I feel the name will "pull traffic" in any advertising campaigns. It has an authoritative ring to it.

Assuming that .mobi as an extension, realizes some level of user adoption, if I can't make more than 10,600 with a developed site on save.mobi, I am in the wrong business ;)

Best

Compubahn, as you say, you are happy with the name and the price you paid - that's all that matters.

You have a specific vision and plan for it, therefore only you can value it against that vision.

It's just that many people have expressed that it would fetch 2 or more times what it actually did - I was offering a suggestion for why it did not. As you said, debate is healthy.
