Hello.
If anyone out there could appraise my domain, safecamping.com, I would greatly appreciate it. I have gotten it appraised at quite a high amount of money before so I would like to see what other people think it is worth. Thanks a lot.

I´m sure with some effort you could find a $xxx buyer.

Camping requires a lot of thought to safety, - Primus Stoves and Canvas are very dangerous, Grizzly Bears as well!!!

With many camping equipment manufactures, marketing their products on safety grounds a buyer could be found or an informative site with good income links could be built.

Where did you get it? Can you post it?

Nice domain, but if I bought SafeCamping.org right now, which is available, then I would get a lot for it and more than a .com.

Only 17.5k matches in Google for "safe camping" which makes it easier to obtain top position. No OVT tho. Could do well developed suitably, but I'd guesstimate this at mid xx - high xx as is, undeveloped. Your xxxx appraisal seems way out of line to me.

Hmm...well the appraisals seem all over the place. The place where I got it appraised was here: http://openforsale.com/ It was a free appraisal.

Iggy: I'm glad that you got the the .org, but I don't think the .org is better than the .com. Could you explain to me why you think otherwise?

Thanks.

Hm, that link leads to an eBook sales page.. are you sure you got it appraised there?

Generally speaking, I'd trust a free appraisal before an automated (or even a paid) one... free appraisers have nothing to gain by flattering you with an inflated appraisal and I believe you'll get a more honest answer free in general.

The guy whow owns Open For Sale sells an ebook called How I Sell My Domain Names, I believe he is a member here at N.P.

He will give free appraisals to buyers of his book, and from what I`ve seen his appraisals are as good as anyones - and free.

Not actually free if you buy his book first.. and I personally still find his appraisal inflated bit in any case, good luck to you.. the real value is always determined by the end buyer. :)

.org is visited by schools and "boy/girl Scouts" a lot. They trust a .org more than a .com. And it makes sence, a .com means that it's a company. A .org means that it's an organization. And usually an organization would make a website called SafeCamping.org than SafeCamping.com.

By the way, SafeCamping.org is not available anymore, thank you for taking up my offer.

As a suggested usage, might do nicely to lean towards info on camping/traveling in the 'rough' in other countries, not just locally. then you can greatly expand the content of the meaning to this name/site to broadly include travel links and info. Even nice reference to LEGALITIES in traveling/camping around the world.

As an aside, to any Nameproers who do a lot of camping, here's a tip to get you started with safe camping (I grew up the brat of a forest ranger; and as an adult I've traveled various trips alone, for months at a time hitch hiking thru various coutries with my trusty tent and pack):

This is a tip I've never seen anywhere, I got the idea from African bomas that are built around their camps to keep out predators - saw them in Tarzan comics as a kid, ha ha;
When I'm camping in the wilds, wherever possible I'll take large dead branches and build a low wall of them in a circle around my tent. This repels the animals that are only mildly curious, and if one of them absolutely wants to get to you, at least it'll get scratched up and give you a lot of loud warning in doing so. A rather scary wakeup call, but better than no warning at all.
Told that tip to a lot of tent-campers who now adopt it; never seen it printed anywhere.

Hey, never know what you'll learn at Namepros. Never know when a Tarzan comic will save your life!!

Thanks for all the appraisals.

Dgridley: You can get a free appraisal by joining their mailing list. You do not have to buy the book beforehand.

Iggy: I see where you're coming from now. I still think that the .com is better but I see your logic.

I agree that the .org does lend the domain a bit more credibility as it seems that you are looking out for the well being of campers instead of trying to make money from selling them something (even if that is what you are doing).

Both are good names though, IMO.
