I'm looking for an appraisal for RocketAces.com. I've registered this domain thinking it would be worth a lot, hopefully everyone will agree.

Your funny. I know it's not that bad. It's a good name for a poker company. I've received multiple offers of $20 for the domain and turned them down. Do you think I should have sold for that price?

Sort of. When you have pocket aces, people also tend to call them the "rockets" at that's how I came up with this name.

You need to up the quality of your analysis a good bit.

As an avid poker player, I already know this name has absolutely no inherent meaning to the "poker community" - "pocket rockets", yeah, but this name isn't "pocket rockets". It's "rocket aces" . If you said this out loud, it would cause you to get laughed at in any given poker room... but lets say I knew nothing about poker and was basing my opinion solely on what google said.

First, how many people search for "rocket aces"? None.

Secondly, if I wanted to determine the relevance of this term to Poker, I wouldn't simply put it in quotations and presume that every result was magically pertinent to poker. I would search poker+"rocket aces", which would yield every site that contained the exact term "rocket aces" concomitant with the word "poker". Suddenly, our 5700 becomes 166. That right there pretty much tells you that this term has absolutely no relationship to poker... For example, I just picked two random words- rutabaga + bathtub- and got more results where those unrelated terms shared a common webpage than did poker and "rocket aces".

I developed a Hold'em site and sold it for a nice profit in the past.

RocketAces pasted my first impression test very well!

Then I saw that people on online communities are using the name for their IDs. Of course the numbers don't knock you on the floor, but its another indicator of "cool factor"

Of course I know that people don't scream "Rocket Aces" but only someone using the term as a newbie not knowing "pocket" would really be laugh at. Poker has its individualism. If someone showed up at a poker table with a RocketAces.com ball cap everyone at the table would know its a poker site! Thats worth $100 bucks any day of the week.

I can easly see "Joe" poker guy wanting this name and paying $100, because of the obvious play on Pocket Aces and knowing every regular poker term you experience playing poker and watching it on tv is long gone and very expensive.

This also has other added possible uses besides poker, Rocket Aces can describe fighter pilots or very fast tennis servers, even a famous pitcher had the nick name "the rocket" and everyone knows an "ace" is a term for a top pitcher in baseball.

Hate getting into the middle of things...but, I think the name does enjoy a certain "cool factor" that is difficult to quantify. I agree with Johname that it has some other sporting connotations to it. It may not even be poker relevant at all as Dongsman testifies.

Some names seem to have a certain cachet about them even though search stats and paid adwords sponsors don't seem to merit any value.

As far as value goes this name isn't really worth much. If you keep getting $20 offers you may consider that an actual valuation. Doubling your money ain't bad.
