Thanks GOD I am in absolutely no way jealous to anyone nor have I implicated in any way that Rick Schwartz would need to lie.

The report / publication of sales are the motor of the domain name industry and it is the most normal thing that published sales can and will always lead to discussions (thanks to namePros at this point), especially if the published information can be interpreted differently.

Of course no one is obligated to prove anything to me or anyone else - like no one is obligated to believe anything without prove.

I even never asked Rick Schwartz for a prove - I just (indirectly) asked him for a statement that simply does not allow more than one interpretation and
although it would not be a prove in the classical sense, it would be enough for me to believe it - or rather, to have no doubts about how to interpret his statement.

When I read Rick's blog post the most important part was that he said two other domain deals were also in the offing, it is these I look forward to hearing from Rick about.

HEADS UP. If anyone isn't following Rick's blog they should - otherwise your just being a hobbyist in domaining IMO. You might agree with him or disagree with him, but you should NEVER ignore him.

The reason that this domain is sold for this amount is that this domain was property of the King.

If I owned the domain and I receive offer for $10K - I would take it immediately.

That is why I am sofiapartner. And he is the King.

Rick has no reason to prove anything.
He's a tremendous negotiator and he can set the price he seeks--
Bettingodds.com was purchased by the leading gambling company in the world in 2019 for 488 K, so bestodds.com, topodds.com should be worth more.
Odds.com --- maybe 30 million or more. Odds.(several cctlds) even have extremely high sales

I see that Rick's previous sale is listed on DNjournal so we should see it there if it is real.

Nobody can beat the odds (chances (possibilities)), it is mathematically impossible.

    https://www.whois.com/whois/bestodds.com

    Registrant Contact
    Name: Rick Schwartz

    Updated On: 2021-01-28

    Name Servers:
    ns1.dns-parking.com
    ns2.dns-parking.com

The domain may only be leased by changing the nameservers but it is impossible to change the registrant contact.

    Is this a fake sale?

    OMG.

Rick Schartz doesn't need to report fake sales, NOR TO MY KNOWLEDGE DOES HE.

So after he report the sales, why registrant contact still use Rick Schwartz? this is a big question

My experience is when the domain is sold, the registrant contact is immediately changed.

I dont know his business but it was a special deal that he gets 1.8 mil upfront and 1.8 mil over 10 years. In these agreements its possible that he holds the asset pending the 1.8 over 10 years.

I do not know. But then again I do not care either. But it could well be that the domain remains 'assigned' in name under the business agreement. Another possibility is that the new owner has not changed registrars and has not yet updated ownership details. (I personally have known a new owner not to change the ownership details for months.)

But might I suggest you find out a little bit about Rick Schwartz, his domains, his sales (which are extremely well documented) over the past 20 - 25 years, before you post anything calling into question his word.

Oh, and by the way and just in case you think I am some acolyte posting blindly in support of Rick Schwartz let me assure you I am not, I hold different views on some aspects of domaining than Rick Schwartz does, he wouldn't touch the domains I invest in with a barge pole, but that doesn't mean that I cannot respect him and his word, something I definitely do as do the vast majority of experienced domainers. (Oh, and for the record he is a multi-millionaire and I am not - so I guess he has a better approach than I do.)

I can't wait to see what someone who pays $ 3.6 million USD for a domain name (if this actually happened here, unfortunately I still don't know as it has still not been clearly confirmed by Rick Schwartz - but just in the event that it actually happened) will do with it - in other words, what content (and in what quality) its website will provide (it should be very professional in this price range) and how long it will take.

This is the current status of the domain name's (bestodds.com) website (screenshot taken at the time of this post):

It is interesting to watch how it will develop (even in case nothing will happen).

Reminds me of a dialogue from the "Upload" Amazon web series.

When "David Choak" - an influential billionaire uploaded into Lakeview wins the Egg Hunt - he says

    My father always says
Heaven showers its bounty on the prosperous. And the wealthy are the most worthy of his grace!

    egg_hunt_winner.jpg

Many contestants were genuinely searching for the egg to win the contest prize of 1 Million fictional Lakeview dollars - who desperately wanted those dollars. But the billionaire wins!
Similarly we have many domainers who struggle to make few hundreds.... yet the money goes where it has to go...

I think what is meant by the phrase "donating amazing names" is 'selling them cheaply'.

Me because I have domain names that no matter for how much I would sell them, they would still be cheap although they may seem expensive at first glance.
