I doubt he really owns "750-1000 domains valued over $100K", this a selection but not representative of the rest of the portfolio.
The value is something that is somewhat theoretical, especially with less premium domains.
Because we know very well that domain names are not liquid, they cannot be redeemed on the spot for cash like stocks.

And even if you own a great domain like a LL.com for example, you know you ask 6 figures at least, but there are not so many end users who have the vision to spend that kind of money on a domain name. Even when you own great names, you have to very patient if you want to sell at a great price.

    • vs comparable sales
    • portfoliowide: statistical analysis (projection from past years)
    • plus wishful thinking of course
    • ...

Rick Schwartz's :xf.wink:Ass.com and :xf.wink:Dick.com is more valuable than his :xf.wink:Slut.com and :xf.wink:Whore.com but wonder who will be the :xf.wink:using them in the end?

lots of great names however here is how i would value these

    1969.com rick $180,000 me $5,000
    1620.com rick $160,000 me $5,000
    CigarBlog.com rick $250,000 me $3500
    GetTogether.com rick $1,550,000 me $15,000
    ServiceDepartment.com rick $750,000 $4500
    iBankOnline.com rick $400,000 me $20,000
    SXW.com rick $800,000 me 80,000
    iHotels.com rick $1,600,000 me 100,000
    iMurder.com rick $800,000 me 3500
    Midddleman.com rick $1,750,000 me 8,000
    Rumormill.com rick $750,000 me 30,000

    rick total 8.9 million
    me total 274,500

minus the 3 letter in the list above this is a list a good domainer could easily have

when you have the sale history he has you can afford to sit on many more names and hold out. i think he sold 20 names in 20 years. m I would sell these cheap and buy a few more one words. there are still plenty out there selling for less than 50k that just because its a rick name could sell for 10 times as much. there are certainly 3 or 4 one words I have my eye on with a low 5 figure ask that Im waiting for capital to come in.

Some of the early domain investors do have some of the best domain name portfolios but it can't have been easy tho telling people back then about domain names and people back then saying either what is a domain name? Eg or whatever etc and even when you think of the domain rs sat on for 20 years that paid off handsomely in the end but it can't have been easy paying what he paid for that domain back then as you still had to have had a few bucks to know it was worth paying a good few bucks in those days hoping it would be worth considerably more today

Which in itself is a feat as even today many don't manage to keep a domain for more than it's first year and let it expire etc

So the early domain investors have got some of the best portfolios but they are now receiving the financial rewards for decades of patience

The 1969.com is worth quite a few quid as there are many self made millionaires globally that were born in 1969 and it's around the right year when people born in 1969 start to make their millions as their age would be approx 48 ish etc coming up to the big 50 and may splash out on a luxury item from etc like 1969.com as long as domains exist it will never go out of date to the right buyer

    Good luck with that

A good domain name investor usually is a good collector eg buying and don't really care if they never sell which is not what a buyer wants to hear when a collector owns the domain they really want which means the buyer has to offer a considerable amount even to tempt a collector to sell so straight away anyone typing their ideal domain name in to whois and finding that Rick owns it will think oh no this will be expensive from the the start lol

You looked up the correct spelling in whois.

Congrats, looks like you start to realize that you havn't any argument against my toptoptop.......top.top domain.
Because otherwise you would use your time to argue against it instead of writing confused holo poems about me.
I don't need to take anything because I don't need anything because...

...I am focused to the top :xf.cool:

But we've already agreed before that your domain name is and will forever be the "Most Expensive Domain of All Time" (y) nothing is left to discuss, I/we agree with you. What's left now is have some tongue in cheek kind of fun about it. no harm right? :nailbiting:

A Clear mind, but is it also a sound mind though?
You can have a clear mind in your own head, but a sound mind is usually a judgement by others.
Either way, this does not change the fact that your domain is "The most expensive domain of all time".

With all due respect, I don't consider 4L premium domains.

Sorry, but you and I have a difference of opinion on what premium means. Property.com and Unemployed.com are premium domains in my opinion. They have liquidity and can sell themselves. In fact, he has a deal pending for $2.85 Million for property.com. I don't consider any 4L domains to be even close to that in value.

I can value all my domains at $1 million each, doesn't mean they are worth that though or I'll get $1 million.

Looking through some of his domains, he's over valuing quite a few and will always be stuck with them if doesn't lower his asking price.
