Domain Age <--- Where to get info from?

I just want to build a Domain Age Check tool, but I am unsure where to get the data from.

The tool is going to be kind of like this. http://www.webconfs.com/domain-age.php

They are most likely retrieving the Creation date from a whois result and converting it into a date php can work with then calculating the difference between that and todays date.
