Guidelines:

Ask questions, research, analyze, and discuss recent sales on marketplaces regarding:
  • What factors contributed to the name selling at a higher or lower price?
  • Whether the sale value is meaningful.
  • If the name has potential future scope.
  • Etc

Please Note:
  • Not a sales report thread.
  • Doesnt have to be your name but any name reported on Namebio or other platforms.

Unstoppable Domains โ€” AI StorefrontUnstoppable Domains โ€” AI Storefront
For example, in todays sales reported on Namebio

ScienceIndiaFest.org sold for $3716 but neither .com or nor other tlds are registered and are available for registration !!
Why?

On Yesterday's sale report:
GlobalClimateChangeWeek.net sold for $2,730 but .org which is more suitable for that lengthier name! is available for registration.
Why?

If you have an idea of why the names mentioned above were sold for those prices, please share your opinion. If not, we can analyze these sales to gain a better understanding of the market.

You can also ask about, analyse or discuss other names that are reported on NameBio every day so that we can improve our domain name value analysis skills.

I'm not going to talk about a specific sale. Over the years, I've seen many sales that make absolutely no sense.

That's why I think the number one factor that determines the sale of a domain and its price is luck.

Of course, there are other factors, such as the quality of the domain, negotiating skills, and a willing and resourceful buyer, but if you think about it, how all of that comes together is a matter of luck. Even the best domainers, those who sell several domains each week or each month, do so because they have portfolios of thousands, or hundred of thousands of domains, so they only sell a very small percentage of their inventory.

DOMAINING = GAMBLING, period.

But if you can share a few domain name sales that seem nonsensical whenever you see them, there may be others who can provide insights into why they were sold at a higher or lower price. Otherwise, the thread will just become another discussion thread rather than an research / analysis thread.

AsSeenOnTv.com sold for $5 million dollars while AsSeenOnTv.net sold for only $491 USD (Source: NameBio)
Why such a big difference ???

Super.xyz sold for $287.607 USD while Super.net sold for $150.000 USD (Source: NameBio)
Why someone paid almost double for the .XYZ extension compared to the .NET one ???

AsSeenOnTv.com was an end user sale, whereas
AsSeenOnTv.net was an investor sale.

.net seller probably got tired of holding it for a long period and sold it for the offer received.

Regarding Super.xyz
.net was sold last year and probably no other extension was available?
But regarding the price at which .xyz are being sold, no comments ๐Ÿ˜„ as if not, the thread will turn into a xyz debate thread soon ๐Ÿ˜‚.

Hi

unless the buyer and seller of any name you find are present to discuss detailsโ€ฆ
then you wonโ€™t get any insight

therefore thereโ€™s nothing to analyze.

personally I donโ€™t go deep diving into past sales, because itโ€™s waste of mental energy trying to figure why some unknowns paid x for x

imoโ€ฆ.

Going by that even the sales report thread may sound waste of time for you.
If you can look at the positive side, there are more learning opportunities in it.

Anyway, the thread successfully attracting who doesnt have the interest than who has the interest.
I guess i have missed few more points in the guidelines.

To the next members who post, please focus solely on the sales analysis and kindly avoid discussing whether this thread is necessary. Thank you for your understanding!

Another interesting sale/drop catch noticed today is
prehistoire-cambous.org - $1900

whereas prehistoirecambous.org, prehistoire-cambous.com, prehistoirecambous.com are all available for handreg.

Prรฉhistoireโ€‘cambous is a French neologism that combines prรฉhistoire (โ€œpreโ€‘historyโ€) with cambous, a colloquial truncation of Cambodge (Cambodia). It is used humorously to refer to the imagined or mythic early history of Cambodia before recorded history

2024-hospitality.com sold for $5001
2024hospitality.com available for handreg

๐Ÿฅด

Who said hyphen reduce the value of a domain name? Probably EU/ esp German or French buyer i guess as they dont mind hyphens normally and sometimes prefer to add a hyphen.

Yet why would someone prefer to spend $5000 on a domain when the non hyphen is available?

More analysis in the coming days may give an answer or probably there is no answer to this ๐Ÿ˜„

OMG, I asked myself these questions over the years, and I did not find any convincing answers for me.

asic-cafe.org sold for $2025
only to get the domain suspended and delete immediately?

I guess buyer deleted the domain immediately after it is suspended to avoid potential udrp case.

Most possibly because of
Association Scientifique Internationale pour le Cafรฉ (ASIC)

But why wasnt suspended all those years but only after someone bought it?

hyperlink.xyz sold for $30,000 (Not a popular name used in crypto or web3 world i believe)
while the better fit hyperlink.net available for just $18,000.

Will track it later in the coming months to see what site is being built on it to get an idea for their xyz preference.

Maybe the owner missed to renew it and it got deleted/dropped, someone from Godaddy knows their customers data very well, they may catch it fast and resell for some amount, knowing how detrimental is the domain for their business it will sell fast.
That is why we see some crappy names sell at Godaddy, I think it is based on this data they have on their customers.

Could be. Seeing suspended2.plaindns.net as the last NS i assumed it was suspended and deleted.

But how did then the sale processed, domain transferred to the buyer, amount credited to the seller and sale was reported to Namebio, if domain was in deletion stage?

Back here after few weeks.

Just now noticed Flyash.info bought for $3101.

While its easily available in many other extensions for hand reg.

If the name is really worth registering in other tlds,
FlyAsh.net
FlyAsh.io
flyash.ai
flyash.online
flyash.xyz

All above are available for reg, but check the previous sales for this keyword before registering. (Negligible).

HandAndEye.com sold for $16,500

Just like Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder, the value of a domain lies in the perception of the beholder.

HandAndLeg.com
HandAndFingers.com
HandandHead.com

are available for registration.
Who knows, 10 years later someone might need it and it will fetch you a good amount ๐Ÿ˜‚

Most interesting is that (handandp**is.com) is available and it would fetch better value.:tightlyclosedeyes::glasses:
