Requesting a review for for 47ideas

I'm here to request a review and any constructive criticism you may have for my new site http://www.47ideas.com/. Please note that this was my first ever proper designing project, so I know there may be some problems.

ok first impulse is that i like the design, but the main banner stands out too much. its a very nice and fitting picture, but i think maybe either whitewash it slightly (transparency) or something so that it blends in better with the rest of your sites color scheme. from there, i noticed that the logo is very web 2.0esque, which looks nice, but everything below lacks that quality. it's good that you tried to stick to the color scheme, but after those rounded corners at the top, everything seems VERY square - not much of a fan. maybe try adding some shadowy effects or something.

as for the content theres only so much and im indifferent to it. you could probably spruce up your portfolio by perhaps putting in linked screenshots of the sites you worked on, etc (so people can get a feel of how it works and what you did).

rest is fine, good luck with your programming endeavors.

like what nasaboy007 said the banner is overly done. you can still minimize the size or monetize that area.

Thanks for the comments, guys. I'll look into changing the banner a little to fit with the rest of the site design.
