Type of Contest: LOGO and slogan for BayRidgeTakeOut.com - a website which provides local restaurant delivery/take-out menus, reviews and ratings to the residents or Bay Ridge, Brooklyn (NY)

Prize: $50 - Paypal only

Contest End Date & Time: October 22nd, 2006; midnight EST (I do not want 'rushed' images, so please take your time )

Size Requirements: large resolution, suitable for print, stickers and t-shirts, but easily scalable for the Internet purpose and with an image easy to recognize in sizes as small as inch x inch -
SHAPE: I prefer 'compact' logos - round and/or square, however, due to certain circumstanses I need a logo/slogan combo that could be "broken apart" - for large purposes the combo should include the image, name of website and slogan; medium size: just the image & web address; the small size: just the image.

Color Requirements: no general color requirements, but I'd like to keep the final design limited to no more than 3 colors with an option to use it as a grayscale image - there is no design specified for the website and/or promo materials as of yet, so please provide designs that will be EQUALLY SUITABLE for both white, black and anything in between backgrounds (you may chose to provide 2 images: dark and light background)
NOTE: I do like orange/gray and burgundy/gray color combinations, but I am open to any other ideas.

General Requirements: There may be a problem here: I may like one person's logo design, and another persons slogan. In that case I"ll pay the slogan person $20 (Paypal) and the logo designer will get $40 - Hey mods, is that fair?
Slogans in my head so far are: "All the menus in one place", "Menus ... organized", "Maximum menus, minimal clutter", "what will you eat today?", and a few others - but I tend to find them a bit cheesy and ... blah ... The slogan should clearly aim at explaining the purpose of the site: easily accessible choice of menus from all the local restaurants (in case anyone missed the concept :yell: ) - In case I do not like any of your suggestions, I'll then use one of my own slogans. This will not affect the price offer for this contest, but you'll have to incorporate the slogan into the design. For logos using the text of the URL and slogan as part of the image, I'll also request that you provide the two (url & slogan) as single line text only images that could be used on their own (also scalable)

Additional Information: as much as I'd not want to affect anyone's creativity, I'd like to mention that Bay Ridge is most famous for its staple landmark - The Verrazano Bridge - somehow I see it in this project, but I am afraid that there is a very thin line between me loving it and hating it. So please, if you have a different idea by now, please do not feel influenced by this suggestion at all (especially since every other business in Bay Ridge has that bridge in their logo...) I do not want you to incorporate a picture of the bridge, just a faint outline, an abstract something that looks like a cross between a bridge and plate and a couple of utensils... Well, at least that's what I see - too bad my talent won't allow me to put it down on paper...

thanks for the entries so far! Please keep in mind that I am looking for a very compact logo/URL/slogan design. I'd like to be able to fit it all within a cirle/square format. Please take a look at the SAMPLES I added to the desciption to get a better idea. I do want to keep it as simple as clear as possible though.

I appreciate the time you've put into this. It looks very clean and professional, however, at the same time a bit 'cold' and corporate-like. As far the differences in color: I'd like to keep the words BAY RIDGE the same color and TAKE OUT in a different one (that is if they need to be in different colors). I can also suggest a BayRidgeTakeOut.com (bold/no bold)approach. Again, it's merely a suggestion, not a requirement.
The slogan's a bit too long, I think that I'd like a three-four word, more aggressive statement! Please, do not worry about the slogan if you just want to work to logo.

Thanks for the try! Yeah, that try did not work me. Plus, there are too many different fonts going on and the general layout is too wide.

this is a very nice and neat concept, but I'd like to have something a bit more personable to the area (hence the mention of the dreaded bridge). The plain fork and knife is not doing it for me. I do like the layout and colors though, but the line with the arrows breaks it all up for me too agressively. Also, please keep in mind that a slogan should go there somewhere as well. Thanks!

very nice work, and thanks for the modification. However, the checkered matt makes it a bit too busy, and also, according to a brief poll here at my office, the food container of your choice implies 'chinese' way too much. Not that I have anything against chinese food but we also have pizza here. Lots of it! Thanks for the entry and let's see another try - I really like the quality of your work!

If I were to choose right now, you'd be the winner! But... I'd not be entirely satisfied yet... I like the improvement in the layout, but I am not into the logo at all... First of all, it's BR (if we are going that way, it should be BRTO - which I do not like either) What I do see here would be a letterless logo. Something like a little figure running around with food or utensils or whatever else implying food delievery I really like this little guy:

- think you could do something with it. (here's a link to: the LITTLE GUY in case it does not display here (I've had problems with it before) - Also, any chance for you to play with the colors a bit - I know I stated I like the orange/grays, but for some reason they contrast too much here. Thanks for your time!

I am very excited that you have decided this contest! I've seen your work and I admire your professionalism and skills. However, as much as I really like your creation here, it looks way too old-fashioned. It would be perfect for a traditional steak-house realated business, but we want to aim at the young and 'hip' population with a modern approach. I am sorry, I should have clarified this in the description... Thank you for your entry!
