Hi fellow NP'ers.
Type of Contest : Logo Design for a Cargo Truck related website/company
Prize : $30.00 via PayPal
Contest End Date & Time : Oct. 15 2011
Size Requirements : Vector, AI Format
Color Requirements : Open
General Requirements :
The logo is for a website dealing with cargo trucks / trailer trucks. The colors preferred are blue and red and of course a black base, but you're free to propose other colors.
Incorporate a tagline space, logo must work with or without it.
Consider a place to incorporate a ".com" into the logo, the logo must work with or without it.
Logo must work well if used as a watermark, or printed, hence the need for a more graphic style. Please include a one-color version in your proposal as well.
A mainly horizontal design is preferred, in order for the logo to work well in website header space and printed material.
Additional Information :
These are the base concepts for the logo:
Where the word "Solo" means Only/Just and the word "CARGA" means Cargo, as in cargo trucks, trailer trucks. The first word is likely to change, so please consider that while designing the logo. The concept, however, is still "Just Trucks".
Unlike the illustrative, detailed nature of the concepts, the logo needs to be simplified, with stylized features instead of very defined and detailed (the truck in the example can be identified as a particular brand and model, which is a no-no for the final design), in order to work as a "web 2.0" logo as well as a modern corporate logo -more of a graphic logo.
Examples we like of logos where the vehicle has stylized or simplified features:
Examples of graphic logos we like:
Examples of illustrative logos that don't work well for our particular needs:
These examples were taken from abduzeedo's website
You can find a few more examples there as well.
It's ok to use a white outline with a shadow (ie skype's logo) in case it helps make the logo more web 2.0 friendly, but the overall design must work well without it.
One of the interested parties likes the following style as well:
It's not really a logo, but a sketched/outlined design with two or three different trucks' profiles could also work.
Other:
The winning entry becomes property of the contest holder, and the winner assigns all intellectual property rights to the contest holder.
The winning contest holder will be credited by full name in any case where the logo is showcased (as in online and printed portfolios, etc.).
The winner will be considered for future work, as well as other designers whose entries are not chosen but which we find to be outstanding in some way or another.
I usually don't like walls of text, but I wanted to be as clear as possible to make things easier for designers. If there's enough interest in this contest, other will follow.
Please feel free to ask any questions or post your comments.
We're looking forward to your proposals. I'll make sure to give as much feedback as possible.
