Reputation Suggestions

I own a vB forum so know a fair bit about the reputation system. It seems NP has kept 'default' settings for reputation. This means we hardly earn any reputation power via posting. Also, I often get the message that I need to spread some more reputation around. Think the default is 15?

Problem is, I want to give people more positive feedback. But not always 15 people deserve it! Its a shame when I cant leave any. I dont often give negative, so this doesnt help me make up the numbers.

It just seems that a little tweaking would encourage people to use it more!

Hope everybody understood that, I'm typing while trying to listen to the Oxford /Cambridge boat race in the background on tv :p

Yes, i have noticed the reputation system here is harder to recive reputation in then other forums. Alot of rules and messages when you try to give out more the 4 or 5 rep. points per 24 hours..

I think the default is that you need to spread around to 30 members. It's so that members don't cheat the system I guess.

But you're right, I do feel frustrated and guilty to an extent when I cannot give reputation for a good post.

I think the default is 20 reputations that need be given before duplicating one on a user. I appeciate the suggestions for tweaking it.

We've considered eliminating the reputation system altogether since it doesn't seem to be very popular and negative feedback gerneally causes more problems than benefits.

I think its fine the way it is except I think we should gain NP for pos rep and lose it for neg.

Last night I noticed I could give rep for every post someone made. I posted in the messages to staff and didnt get a reply but I noticed today that its back to the old way...
