According to the domainnamewire, the owner let this name expire and it sold at snapnames for $72,250 on 9-12-06

When I seen the news of the sale of this domain I myself was like huh? CityCenter.com? Thats totally backwards, who would want that?

www.CityCenter.com

Just goes to show ya once again, you just never know what kind of value you may really have in your portfolio. Dont ever underestimate the value of your domains and by all means, think twice before you let something "catchy" expire.

That one definetly hurts...

Hopefully it was a NetSol domain name, and he atleast got some of that money. Does anyone know how that works. Does netsol still give a % of the sale to the original registrant?

City Center isn't backwards? I'd never have let such a name expire.

Sure, some of the English speaking world spells it centre, and some center, but the name still makes sense and there are still millions of people who would understand it, but that is definitely not something I would have wanted to let expire.

From NetSol:

Additionally, you will be eligible to receive a portion of the funds received by us as a result of a Direct Transfer of the domain name, as follows: (i) if you registered the domain name with Network Solutions directly through our Web site, you will be eligible to receive twenty percent (20%) of the Net Proceeds received by us from our third party vendor as a result of a Direct Transfer; and (ii) if you registered the domain name with Network Solutions through a third party agent (such as your ISP, for example), you will be eligible to receive fifteen percent (15%) of the Net Proceeds received by us from our third party vendor as a result of a Direct Transfer. You acknowledge and agree that the Direct Transfer process may be facilitated through a single Direct Transfer Customer, or through a brief auction involving multiple parties who are interested in the domain name. For purposes of this paragraph, "Net Proceeds" shall mean the total fees paid to us by our third party vendor as a result of a Direct Transfer, less any registry fees, credit card charge-backs, processing and check fees, and other costs or fees associated with the Direct Transfer of the domain name. You agree that we shall have no obligation to pay you, and you shall have no right to receive, any percentage of the Net Proceeds unless, within ninety (90) days after the date of our Direct Transfer Notification, you first provide us with the name, address and related information requested by us (including, but not limited to, a Form W-9, if applic able) in our Direct Transfer Notification. We cannot guarantee, and we make no representation or promise, that any Direct Transfer will occur with respect to any particular domain name. You also agree that in the event your domain name services are terminated by us pursuant to this Agreement, we may transfer your domain name registration to Network Solutions or a third party, without any liability to you or obligation to compensate you in connection therewith.

I don't think CityCenter.com is backwards at all. And I would not have let it drop, unless of course I was really poor at the time.. But I would at least try to sell it myself.

Man that is a nice sale, too bad for the previous owner:(

Many convention centers are referred to as "City Center", making this domain anything but backwards. It's actually dead on correct! I'm not surprised that the domain generated 72k+, i'm definitely surprised that the previous owner did let it drop. I'd have to be dead to let this one go....

I've lived in California, Boston MA and Missouri and a few other US states.

I've never reffered to a "City Center" as "Center City".. Unless the city name is Center.. :)

However I do say "The Center of the City".. on occasion!

LOL

Different dialects / environments .. I gues..

Results 1 - 10 of about 2,530,000 for "city center"

Results 1 - 10 of about 1,970,000 for "center city"

Wow, I thought I would win that one :imho: :)

Living in the burbs of philadelphia, if I go "down town" for something, I say I'm going to center city. City center :imho: implies a specific buiding or smaller area of a city. Oh $#@^, now I'm all confused

I've been to practically every large city in America and have never heard of anyone referring to downtown as center city.

I remember a similar discussion about my old domain TapMac.com

A North Eastern U.S "slang" term for withdrawing money from an ATM machine because they were in fact "Mac Machines" MAC - Money Access Center, and I think one person here heard it before and I felt like some kind of :alien:

LMAO :)
