Ah.. those were the days.
The Whois was just a click away.
All the TLDs were displayed nicely.
The interface was simple and clean.

So true. I liked the old GD layout.

That screenshot took me back in time... those were the good ol' days... the days of Nubiano. :D

Who.is still looks something like that. I usually check there first, and if there is an available name or a name with a listed price, then I decide from there what to do.

With all the other extensions now, they have confused themselves with what would actually work.

The current layout doesn't work for me.

Same here, the current layout's font is way too big and is designed for senior citizens with bad eyesight, plus you have to scroll down a long list to see whats available and most tlds are not even listed.
Back then everything a domainer needed was laid out in that small little frame and it was great.

GoDaddy has never been domainer friendly. It's just got worse. I am a senior citizen with bad eyesight, so I appreciate the huge font. The rest of the layout sucks, big time. I only ever use GoDaddy nowadays for my auction purchases/sales. I transfer my domains out immediately after 60 days (if cashflow isn't a problem).

Go on, we love it when you talk dirty.

I would be happy if they just got back to customer friendly

In their defense, their online chat is actually quite good.

I had one of their reps call me last week about my domains, super friendly guy and really helpful.
I like the big fonts on the site (yeah I'm getting older and have been needing reading glasses.) You may notice a lot of sites doing that, I think it's for mobile optimization...so people can see everything on their tablets etc.
I prefer the old way they used to suggest names though and had all the extensions listed.

Wow. Now PayPal has done the same thing. It's horrendous! It's like trying to read one of those Reader's Digest enlarged print editions with beer goggles.

Honestly, i'm quite happy with Godaddy and have the majority of my portfolio (around 300 names) with them these days. Their pricing is competitive (I use the domain discount club), the domain management is easy, they don't charge for simple stuff such as forwarding and in general i think their customer support is top notch compared to others.

@dv82 - Don't try to do a whois lookup on all your domains at once, you will get banned by their whois server. Sometimes this is just temporary, sometime it is permanent. It's the reason I moved away from GoDaddy. How many domainers want to update their records and do 100+ whois lookups. At Dynadot, I get 5000 whois lookups a day, at a cost of pennies per domain. It's worth it for me.
