CORRECTION:
I think I spread the good news too quickly. :'( They just moved the interface around a little bit.

I just pulled a domain into my Godaddy account today and I was forced to check the tick box where you agree to allow them to prevent the domain for being transferred for 60 days. Same with changing WHOIS. :(

and you don't have to give your username if you don't want to - address on the whois and email is enough

Thats what we used to NOT like... I'd rather give my userID & email then give my full address.

I'm trying to transfer one domain (under 60 days - change of contact / account push) out to another registrar now...

it is denied ... :td:

The transfer of ???? from GoDaddy.com, Inc. to another registrar could not be completed for the following reason(s):

Express written objection to the transfer from the Transfer Contact. (e.g. - email, fax, paper document or other processes by which the Transfer Contact has expressly and voluntarily objected through opt-in means).

The express written objection may be the result of a pending or recently completed Change of Registered Name Holder. This is an opt-in process during which the new Registered Name Holder agrees not to transfer for 60-days. This domain will be transferrable on 6/17/2008.

If you believe that this domain name does not fit the situation described above, go to http://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/support.asp?prog_id=GoDaddy&isc=gdbb35 for assistance.

Regards,
Domain Services
GoDaddy.com, Inc.

I think I can see where Go Daddy is getting at.

They know ICANN stated changing the domain name's contact information in
WHOIS is not a ground to deny a transfer. But they also know ICANN doesn't
necessarily want to tell a registrar how to run its business.

So they got around that by essentially forcing users to check the box beside
the transfer agreement before proceeding. Makes sense, actually, since they
need (or want?) to CYA.

That's a price to pay for using Go Daddy. For some, though, that's not really
an issue as long as they know what they're doing and getting into.

Godaddy hasn't changed. Acquired a domain through an account change yesterday, and had to accept 60 days with no transfer. Can't wait for the sixty days to get my imprisoned name out.
