I've been wondering about the relationship between domains with religious names and content, and the domaining industry in general. Just bought sermon.biz here today for NP$ with the idea of developing a site around TV preachers and televangelists.

I have a few other "religious" oriented domains like this that are still undeveloped. Anyone have a sense of how religion and domaining are faring on the market these days? :o

Im not completely sure, but I have a feeling that they are doing even better now than in the past. It seems like a lot more people are turning to religion, especially after all the terrorist attacks, and then films like the Passion of the Christ and celebrities like Madonna getting into kaballah and stuff. People tend to talk about the power of prayer even more often, so I think religious domain sshould fair pretty well.

Ah, some intense interest expressed already!

The DN Journal article on religion and domaining as part of the great Christian mission is interesting. Even the televangelists make it on the DNJ pages, so perhaps there's already more interest than one would think!

When former administrative judge Bob Broxton retired a few years ago he started acquiring domains with a much bigger objective in mind. Most of the more than 4,000 domains currently in his portfolio were never meant to earn a commission, they were meant to fulfill The Great Commission . . . Of course, any time the subject of money and religion comes up in the same sentence, church critics are ready to pounce. Fueled by scandals involving preachers like Jim Bakker, Jimmy Swaggart and others, they are (perhaps understandably) quick to question a person’s motives. Broxton knows that but won’t let it deter him from accomplishing his mission . . . ("Divine Inspiration: Why Bob Broxton Believes His Domains Will Help Save the World." Ron Jackson. DN Journal).

I feel a bit guilty selling Christian-related domain name especially if it is a God or Jesus domain name.

By the way www.Jesus.com is forwarded to a gay cult website...a pity as well.

I find the connection of religious profession and financial profit fascinating. But I'll admit, I'm a bit warped.

Thanks for the link, Jeffrey. I wonder how the Metropolitan Community Church snagged the Jesus.com domain. Curious that it is used only to forward to the MCC website.

Did you notice the advertisement at the bottom about earning air miles on the "official airline" of the MCC?
